Bass Gibson is an early to mid-season bloomer. It has earned the following AHS awards: Honorable Mention: 2009 and Award of Merit: 2012. It is both pod and pollen fertile with 22 registered children:

I love this one....one day...

I grow BASS GIBSON in a pot, and it seems to bloom every other year for me so far -- but I'm happy with it because it's a dormant that has survived here for a few years now and still looks good when it blooms.

"Bass Gibson" is slow to increase for us and we get less branching and bud counts than the registration facts, but it earns it's place in the garden. Beautiful blooms which are very pod fertile (which is important to us). Blooms for a decent length of time.

Seedlings seem to take on the color of the other parent frequently.

Truthfully , I have had this plant for maybe 3 years and I am not particularly impressed . It is just ok to me .Sure it has teeth and I like the orangey yellow color but it is
a) far to short to suit me ( granted that is a personal preference ) and

b) it doesnt increase particularly quickly like many of my other plants and so it gets just a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 .

To me this was just one other plant that was hyped/promoted by whomever and I fell for the hype . It has not lived up to the hype in my gardens which is disappointing but I have read somewhere that a plant travelling thru numerous zones northward from where it originated will lose bud count and of course growing conditions are different.......it is probably a great plant in its mother zone .

I have had this one a couple years but I received it as one small fan. It bloomed three blooms the first year and 7 the second. Pollen is fertile. Finally started to increase and I divided it last year to share which set it back as it did not bloom this year. As @Treeclimber mentioned, it has its place in the garden (front row as it is short) and could be a good parent for toothy offspring as it is an offspring of Forrestlake Raggamuffin. I have a couple seedlings that I look forward to.

The most I ever paid for a daylily was for this one and that was after it had been on the market for a good number of years. The plant I got was a double fan, it has increased at a moderate pace to a small clump. I bought it for the toothy bloom which it produces nicely here in the north.
