Weather.com showed we were low 33 degrees around 12:30 am and I woke up at 34 degrees this morning. Plumerias and orchids that I wasn't able to bring to our covered patio looks okay. Thumbs up

dont know if anyone else watches this eagle cam every year. It took two days, as it came out the long way, but the first egg hatched at 7.30 this morning. I sure hope the new daddy brings food.

Pam, Hurray! Thanks so much for that link ... I watched that live cam from Pritchett's Real Estate property for a couple of years and then totally forgot about it! They used to have a Facebook Page too; I'll have to see if I can find it again. Thanks again for sharing!

Crying I didn't know that Ozzie had been injured twice and later died but glad to see Harriet has a new mate with M15 ... wonder if they will give him a name other than the M15?

I enjoy it as well, and the best part is they eat mainly fish, or in the past that is what they did. Nothing to graphic.

Yes, mostly fish but I think I remember one time a dead rabbit had been brought to the nest.

Oooh, I must have missed the baby ... I still see the adult on the nest. I have the webcam open in a separate browser but I've been busy with some packing and just now came back to the laptop.

Harriet has even fed it already. Funny how this amuses me. Cant wait to see if the other egg hatches.

I have it full screen and just noticed the dead fish behind the adult ... can't wait to see the other egg hatch (if it hasn't already) and to watch those babies grow!

Gigi, you'd be surprised how much cold orchids can take. The standards (dendobiums/cattlyas and some others) Vandas can get quite cold but not to freezing.

Here's what's blooming in my bathroom today

My Mom keeps her orchids and African Violets in the master bath on a plant stand. They sit in front of the glass block "window" so they get lots of light. In the summer, she moves them closer to the tub because it gets really hot by the window and they were burning. But they seem to like it, otherwise. Mom isn't exactly known for her green thumb so I'm actually kind of amazed she hasn't killed them all. Hilarious!

Mellie, I generally kill house plants since I don't garden in the house. Didn't you see the dead african violets in the picture in my bathroom?
But since there's no gardening outside in the winter, I will tend to the plants inside. The orchids go back out under the cabbage palm after threat of frost is gone. The African Violets never went outside poor things. There are some cacti in there too as they don't like Florida outdoors.

Our master bathroom is the "orchid spa" in winter, when we get a few nights of below 50deg. Luckily we have south-facing windows in a large tiled shower area that is ideal for the orchids, and I can use the hand-held shower head to spray them when they need some water. Hopefully we're nearly in the clear as far as cold nights go. This picture was taken last year - there are a lot more orchids in there now.
