Sempervivum globiferum subsp. allionii 'from Aione'

Look at all that red on your Sempervivum globiferum subsp. arenarium 'from Murtal'.
That one has done very well for me over the years, as has the one from Aione.

They are prolific. I don't have that many because for some reason I like the Heuffs better.

I wouldn't want to be without the rollers, they make me smile every time I look at them.

They do make some nice color during the seasons.

And they work well in tight spots, on rocks, between rocks.

Murtal

'Murtal' means in English: Valley of the river Mur.

The river Mur is in Austria, in the province of Styria (Steiermark).

In that Murtal there grow several Semps in the environment, like S. pittonii and S. montanum ssp. stiriacum.

And another roller, the Sempervivum globiferum ssp. hirtum (hillebrandtii) from Gulsenberg.
Gulsenberg means Mount Gulsen (from where we know the S. pittonii as well). This mountain is in the 'Murtal' too.

This is S. globiferum ssp. hirtum (hillebrandtii) from Gulsenberg, a wild form, only to be found on a small place (like pittonii):

there are so many nice rollers. Hard to say, which I like best.

There are two interesting cultivars in my collection, which I can recommend.

First this one, I got with the name Sempervivum globiferum ssp. hirtum 'Purpurea':


and the other one is a cultivar from Sue Thomas (UK). It's 'Autumn Fire':
