I need helping information about calla lilies, i plan to plant it in my container pond with some guppies and mollies. I read some articles in the internet , some said it safe for your fishes other said its very dangerous. Confused Confused which one is rite?? And one more question is it ok to plant the calla in water depth around 10-15 cm?
Thank u Hurray!
Happy Spring Time everyone! Thumbs up Thumbs up

I have seen mixed reviews as well on callas. If in doubt, I would err on the side of caution and not put them in with your fish. How about a pot of callas next to your pond?

Let us know what you do.

Hendrik, I think Callas are only dangerous to your fish if they actually eat the tubers. Just growing them in your pond should be fine for the fish. (since it's been a month, maybe you know for sure by now anyway?)

But I would just put a layer of rocks on top of the planting medium in the pot - so that the fish would have to work awfully hard to get at the tubers.

I do this for my lotus tubers, because lots of fish, and also ducks and other critters like to eat lotus tubers. Luckily, I have gravel driveways and walkways around the house so there are lots of clean rocks to be had.

Hello here elaine :D

Waw, that's nice info , sadly i m not getting my calla yet from my seller Thumbs down . She said its difficult to find now, so i must be patience.
Will try your suggestion when i get one. :)

But i never covered my lotus with any rock or gravel and they seems allright. Maybe my fishes not too big and aggresive , even i had 2 comet goldfish and some guppies inside the container, but the water always murky since i put the comets sibling Blinking

If your water is murky, you just need a few more plants in there Hendrik. They filter the water beautifully, and use up the fish waste as fertilizer while they're at it.
