@Mutisia, I want to say Bougainvillea, but I'm not sure; however, I'm sure an expert at ATP will be more accurate, than my guess.

Thanks, but I am familiar with Bouganvillea and this one does not look like one, Fleur569.

I hope somebody can ID it for me - I really like it. Thanks!

Hi @Terrafirma: Thank you for the suggestion of the banner flower being Clerodendrum. Via Google, I did some comparisons, and noted that the flowers aren't composed of flowerettes and the leaf texture is smooth vs. rough/leathery. I also did a zoom-in of the flower for comparison. It is not as sharp, but the bud structure is somewhat visible, having very pointy, sharp petals on each bud. I might be wrong. Hope to get some more suggestions/confirmations.

Look at this one for comparison, Clerodendrum poggei

Strikingly similar, to my eye, except the richness of bract color. Shrug!

@Terrafirma, @Mutisia That's a terrific comparison. Wow, I can see the obvious similarities, especially after having checked the ATP Plant Database. I think you're absolutely correct. Thank you so much.

WOW!

I made a Google-image search and found Clerodendrum speciosum to be the most similar. You are right Fleur, your image shows the red bracts, from which the real flower emerges.

https://www.google.cl/search?h...

I have only seen a white Clerodendrum species here and I'm impressed by the diversity of species, each prettier than the other!

What have you done, girl? Now I NEED a Clerodendrum, despite the draught Sighing!

Now I will have to find out if they produce seeds.
