I have a favorite cup that I broke the handle on and just couldn't bring myself to tossing it out, now it will be in my garden. I don't have toads or frogs around, but that's OK, it will look nice sitting among the plants. Thanks for the tip. I tip my hat to you.

I keep looking at the mug expecting the toad to crawl in... can we have some special effects?

Cute idea!

Love that idea Lee Anne! We were talking about Toad Abodes (and making/painting them) over on the Garden Art forum a few weeks ago and your idea is wonderful!

Love seeing toads in the garden, like this idea!

I had to laugh out loud because it reminded me of a toad I saw this spring. It was in one of the little dixie cups, you know the ones you keep in the bathroom - they are tiny! I used some for planting seeds indoors, and some had sprouted so I put them on the front porch. Well, a few days later, I went to repot one of them and out jumped this toad that was at least twice as big as the cup Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing cracked me up!

There have been times when I thought the "tree rats" had been digging in pots again only to a toad happily snuggled in the dirt Rolling my eyes.

Nice! I never see any toads in my garden... Maybe if I give them an abode they might come!

This just popped up again as a random tip on my home page so I thought I'd share the story of my new toad house. One of my ATP coffee mugs was out on the back deck with a little houseplant in it and a couple of weeks ago I found that some critter (a raccoon, or more likely a squirrel!) had knocked it off the shelf. The handle was broken off; I never found the handle so maybe the critter took it as a souvenir ... but the mug is now beneath a shrub for use as a toad abode.
So .... I now have 3 remaining ATP coffee mugs, and 1 ATP toad abode! Lovey dubby

I really want an ATP coffee mug. Sad

I do have two other mugs that are in fine shape but far too large for me to use, and they are also heavy! Maybe I'll set them outside, handles intact, and see if toads care to visit. Lovey dubby
