So I checked out the Nursery Beds this morning -- and found two bloom fans rotted off at the base: Cold Fusion and Looky Loo. There are 98 other cultivars in those beds -- but what rots? The ones I most wanted to see. Been waiting for Looky Loo for SIX YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!! And have been salivating over Cold Fusion ever since it was introduced. Angry Think I'll go eat worms.......................

Oh, no, Mary Ann. It does seem to be the one I get most excited over when I buy it that does not make it. Either that or it sits in the bed for five years and refuses to bloom. And just tell me one is scarce and watch it diminish no matter what I do for it.

I've got some of the same problem!

Mary Ann, I know I've asked you before, but what is the iris in your avatar? It's so lovely.

MM - I was this morning saying something like that to my wife. I found another Iris growing in my work area just under the deck. Didn't even have roots. Just two fans about 5 inches long growing on a piece of rhizome debris. And the ones I pamper....

Blessings to you

It sucks Mary Ann. Don't go and eat worms unless they are gummy worms. Just grab a root bear float instead and take a deep breath. Its a long time too wait and have nothing,

Don't you just hate that Mary Ann! Grumbling I have some that have rotted off for 3 years in a row. One has been going for 4 years, and this year Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers! Crossing Fingers! It could just bloom, but I'm not holding my breath as it's early, and we still have freezing nights and warmer days with too much moisture, so anything could happen.

Mary Ann,

What a shame. Reminded me of growing iris in New York. Around 1967-8 a first bloom on a new plant called Melissa was opening when we left for church. We came home and found that some neighborhood children had collected a bouquet of my iris including Melissa and went around trying to sell the flowers. I don't remember if I saw it bloom the next year or not.
