I was one of the first 300 contributors to the plant database!
Being new to ATP I wasn't sure if I should start a new topic, but I really like orange daylilies and hated to see them neglected. Plus I would love to see what oranges are out there that I might not know about.....

Here are a few of my favorites.

COLEMAN HAWKINS by Dan Bachman is big, bright and very showy.

GRAND OLD FLAG by Matthew Kaskel is more of an orange red. Really glows!

KLAATU BARADA NIKTO is another one by Dan Bachman. Very vigorous plant and pod fertile too!

LIGHT FORBES is a wonderful UF from Jane Trimmer. I like the edge on it.

MIDDLE-EARTH is by a region 11 hybridizer, Bob Tankesley-Clarke who is more known for his doubles and UFs, but I really like this one.

Ann, by all means start a new thread for a new topic! Anyone can start a thread. If your just going to say "I fertilized today" I would put that in the blooms and chat thread. But if you are going to start a thread for "what fertilizer do you use and why" that will likely get a lot of response, so should be in a thread of it's own.

I love orange daylilies. I had my eye on Gossard's Heavenly Dragon Fire, hoping the price would drop. Then, I saw another plant, I can't remember the hybridizer off the top of my head, but the name is Flaming Flamingos. It made HDF look muddy. I have two friends who have FF so I hope when it increases enough, I can buy a fan from one of them. Big Grin

Orange has become really popular again after fadeing for several years. Trimmer has done a lot of orange recently and Larry Grace has some the brightest I have seen.

I dought anyone has ever seen this flower its a dip and I used it some this year.

There ar4e some beautiful Oranges out there. Nothing like the ones of old. So many people even today have no idea what daylilies have to offer other than the old standards and are just blown away when they see some of these.
