But maybe soon if the weatherman is correct.
The Denver area has been getting frosts for a little while now. Enough frost to kill the tomatoes, peppers and other tender annuals, but not enough to hurt the hardy perennials. I like it when this happens - the roses get enough cold to get them slowing down and ready for winter. Sometimes our first freeze is a hard freeze which catches the roses unprepared. But with a gradual cool down, the roses harden off nicely in preparation for the more intense cold to come.
Which is probably coming very soon now. We're supposed to get a hard freeze around Tuesday. If it drops as much as I think it will, there will be no more blooms this year.
There's something about the fall that intensifies the colors in the roses. Some whites that rarely have touches of pink in the summer, now have that touch. Pinks often deepen. Reds are glorious.
Right now there's a lot of color in the garden. Here's some pictures from the last couple of days - probably the last for this year:

Magic Carousel - an older mini.

Cuddles - another older mini. Oh heck, most of my minis are older. The coral color has deepened in the fall.

Baby Betsy McCall, a older, but very tough mini.

Cinderella - probably my favorite little mini, with much more pink than it usually has in the summer. Not much in the way of flower form, but such a nice tidy little plant and hardy as heck. The tiny leaves and canes are in proportion to the tiny blooms.

Copper Sunset

Golden Halo

Orange Honey, with intense fall colors

Simplex

The Fairy

Antique rose - a mini

Green Ice showing a lot of that fall induce pink coloring. Uually it's just white after fading from pale green.

Tabby, these are lovely photos. I hope you're going to add them to the database. If any of them lack entries, let me know and I'll create new entries for them.

i haven't checked them all for entries, but I don't think there's one for the miniature Cinderella. There's a couple of Cinderellas in the database that look like they are for very different, bigger roses.

Here's the link, Tabby:

Rose (Rosa 'Cinderella')

According to HMF, there are actually 7 roses named Cinderella, and that doesn't count the ones with other parts to their names, such as Cinderella, Cl. I bet half of them are Kordes roses. Hilarious!

Tabby - I hear ya. I'm tired of the weather people stating one thing, and then getting almost 100% the opposite. I was running around in shorts today.. what happened to the cold front we were supposed to get? Record high of, what, 83? on Saturday. Spent half the day watering today. Didn't get that much snow last week worth anything, so had to make sure that everyone was nicely watered. Happy to report that every single rose I got from Cliff has leafed out and two (Distant Drums & Macho Man) have blossomed. If I can find my camera (can't find it!! Sad ) I'll try to take some last-minute pictures tomorrow before I water. In the back, watering shattered almost all the blooms.

Gorgeous shots tabby, that Magic Carousel shot is especially elegant!
Not sure if you know about the easy way to upload images directly from your post. Just enlarge the image and select the [Propose image for the plant database] at the bottom and type (or copy and paste from your post) the name of the rose and select and proceed from there. Pretty easy. Thumbs up

Thanks for a great parade, tabby.

We're getting ready for winter here, too. Frost has nipped at the dahlias and the potatoes, but not the tomatoes. Sadly, bambi is still browsing nightly when there is a bright moon, which is about ten days a month. So, lots of chewed up plants. No roses.

I hate weatherpeople. If there's reincarnation, I want to come back as a meteorologist. That way I can be wrong about 100% of the time and still make bookoo bucks. Seriously. I spent about 4 hours yesterday watering because there was no rain/snow in the forecast for the rest of the month.

It's raining today. BLEH. I'm not one for complaining about the rain, but I had left a ton of stuff outside in my backyard because it wasn't supposed to precipitate in any way.. and DH & I had to hurriedly cover it with tarps so they wouldn't get ruined. Sad Oh well.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but found my camera this morning & took some quick pix. Almost none of the new roses I got from Burling this year made it due to drought & high heat. Sad They were just too tender to survive. I lost almost 100% of RU's roses too. Sad Too small/too tender. I need more robust roses for my ineptitude.

Toni you are always mentioning your ineptitude; my roses would be delighted to be cared for with "your ineptitude"! Those are some lovely blossoms. I like Hawkeye Belle too.

I don't think you can highjack this thread if you are posting pictures in this area since that's the topic. Smiling

I've got Winter Magic and Paradise too somewhere out there in the gardens. I haven't bought roses in a while since I have so many. The last time a got a bunch was when Nor'East closed its retail operations and I panicked.

The prediction has been revised up from 27 to 31 for my area, but in the past when they say it'll get to 40, I usually get a frost so I don't know. Do I cut the pumkins and bring them in? Or leave them and hope it doesn't get too cold and they all turn to mush?

It only rained a little, but it's cloudy out so I should go and take some more pictures.

It's finally clearing up here.. been not raining for about an hour but everything soppy wet. Any other time I would be jumping up & down for joy that we got rain, but I had a LOT of stuff outside (was cleaning out my shed) and it got too dark by the time I was "done" (wasn't really done, but I left it for another day because the weather people didn't say anything about rain!!).

And it's absolutely true about my ineptitude. I've only been serious about roses since '09 and I've killed WAAAAAAAAAAAY too many of them. But that's how I'm learning: being a rose killer first so I know what I've done wrong so that I won't do that again!

I have a few roses from Nor'East miniatures. I love those roses (Winter Magic being one of them). They have been the best mini's I've got other than the ones from Walmart that are no-namer's!!

It was hot Saturday so we put off shoveling heavy dirt until Sunday and then it got hotter Sunday than it was supposed to. I thought it was only supposed to get in the 60's?

The rain keeps stopping and starting, along with some strong winds. It's making it hard to do stuff outside.

The older Nor'East roses are reliably winter hardy. Back when John Saville owned Nor'East, he told me he wouldn't stock a rose that couldn't stand his winters in Rowley, Mass. I have some of the same plants I bought from him since the 1980's.

It's miserably cold and windy out now.

Here's couple new pictures:

Tabby - You know why it's cold & miserable? It's all my fault w/that one too. DH asked me this morning when I got the garbage out onto the curb if we needed jackets and I told him, nyah, it's nice outside.

It's colder now at 317pm than it was at 715am. Sad Go figure. But, luckily for me I have a jacket here at work (forgot my jacket this past Friday & left it here). He's gonna freeze. LOL

It's way colder than it was this morning. Stupid me, I stayed in during the morning and now I have to go out in the cold and wind.

Here's a couple more. These aren't my best pictures of these roses. They're just ones I took today and are a little beat up.

Winsome - a largish mini

Minnie Pearl - it is loaded with buds just like this one today

Here's some more from yesterday.
