My very first time to Winter Sow. Checked the jugs this afternoon, Marion and Green Grape both have tiny babies popping through. Really excited about it. 17 more varieties in jugs waiting to germinate. : )

I'm so jealous; this is the first step out of our cooking cubit to look around . . seeds are here . . haven't touched them.

I'll be back when launch is over . . . I hope.

YEAH! Black Cherry and Gold Nugget are germinating as of yesterday. No perennials popping up yet.

I transported the jugs in the pic above to the east side of my house. It's a great place that gets very little direct sunlight, but lots of indirect sunlight.

I'm in charge of the greenhouse this year for our Master Gardener group. We grow heirloom tomato plants as a fund raiser.

I've ordered about 25 different varieties and we'll end up with about 800 plants for the sale. I want to get them planted by March 1st so that they will be a decent size for sale by Mothers day.

What varieties are you going to grow? I have a list started but I keep changing it because I have so many that I want to grow! How much do you sell them for? That is a good idea for a fundraiser.

I'm new here. This site seems great, and I hope to get lots of good info before garden season really gears up.

This year I'm trying some new tomatoes that I got on sale for 25-50 cents a pack: Roman candle, greenhouse red, pink oxheart, striped Roman, and mountain gold. I'll start sprouting them in a couple weeks. I also have leftover yellow pear and some kind of beefsteak from last year.

Anyone have experience or pointers for any of these varieties? I grow mostly for fresh salsa and snacking, but this year I'm going to try canning some salsa and sauce if I get enough tomatoes for it.

Was Lincoln Adams a good producer for you?
I grew Northern Lights last summer and enjoyed! the flavor and produced alot of tomatoes.
I see you will be growing Virginia Sweets also.

Very good producer, most of then fruits were 1-1 1/4 pounds, very tasty.
