My favorite in 2011 has got to be Pandora's Treasure. Not only did I just receive it this summer, but because I had to remove some dead trees, I did not have the money to pull out the evergreens from in front of my house, and build the bed I wanted to there - so PT got popped into a pot (OK, kitty litter bin with holes drilled in the bottom). Then PT bloomed, AND rebloomed (first rebloomer I ever had)
For flower profusion, Catherine Neal, even though it was transplanted, twice.
As for pods (I only collected bee pods, played at dabbing just to 'try' - too new at this) some of my old cottage dips were crazy pod heavy. Most of the other daylilies I got very few bee pods from.
Most pleasant surprise is H. Citrina. I purchased it because it was a historic, and I was planning on moving it to our western PA cottage this summer, but enjoyed it too much. So now I will wait until it increases enough, then transplant some fans there. I just loved the nocturnal flowers, (which I had NO CLUE and it took a forum member to tell me that was what was going on!) shape and fragrance.
Favorite 2011 purchases have to be Moosa Pa Loosa from Bobby Baxter, and Westbourne Ol Mining Camp LIghts from Mary Jane Meadows - can't wait until they bloom in 2012.
And my most favorite flower was Charles Johnston. Just loved it's size and red color. I had to transplant it (it was planted behind one of my heirloom dips, which grew taller than I expected) late this past summer, and it didn't recover well, so I hope it survives the winter with extra mulch and some TLC.
This is not the best photo of it, in real life it was simply gorgeous.
Happy New Year all! ~Jan
