I like everything about 'Fireworks', and it's definitely on my short-list to buy; however, I think it's a smaller plant and I'm hoping to find one that is similar, but taller/bigger. Any ideas?

Well, it dosn't have the same colors but if you want something really upright, check-out 'Praying Hands Hosta' Green Grin!

I saw that one, Susan; but like you said, it's a different color pattern. I do like it too, but I'm looking for something to brighten up a rather gloomy spot under a magnolia. Need white! Big Grin

I thought the upright form might mimic this trunk structure quite nicely. Smiling

Yes!! I hear you, I will keep looking and let you know if I see anything. OH, How about 'Fire and Ice' nice medium size hosta, you could plant several and It would be awesome. Also F&E is slug resistant. It is a very good seller and performs well. Also Loyalist Hosta gets 35 inches tall and is simular to Fire and Ice only bigger. Also check out Eternal Flame which is also slug resistant, I like the slug resistant thing, it's one less bell to answer! If it was me I think I would pick Loyalist, very easy hosta to grow and I would put several at the base for that wow factor. Here is mine but it is a baby. Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

Maybe 'Night Before Christmas'

All great selections!

I think I have all of those already, except for 'Night Before Christmas' and 'Orange Marmalade'. I can add some of those in there as well, but I'm still looking for a tall, upright partially white variety, if one exists. Big Grin I'm not at all familiar with hosta cultivars. We have a lot out here, but I didn't shop for them, I just care for them. Lovey dubby

Myself, I'd pop a Liberty in that spot. It will definitely brighten up the area.

Regal Supreme perhaps?

http://www.gardenbreezehostas....

It was introduced in 2009 I believe and it's on my list. It's not that similar to Fireworks I guess, but it's a 28" x 43" sport of Krossa Regal that's supposed to have the lovely upright, vase-like structure of KR but a much wider cream margin than other KR sports before it, such as Regal Splendor. Some of the photos I found of it make it seem small and wimpy but they must be babies.

I like both of those.

Liberty would match the base color of the statue, and Regal Supreme has the near-white and a lovely form.

Thanks, bunches!

Ticker,

What is the hosta in your avatar? I particularly like that one!

Chelle, it's Frosted Jade. It's a large hosta and an old one, but a good one. Smiling

Sweet!

I'll look for one. I think I may like it for that area; and if not there, I do have a lot of other areas that are going to shade that could certainly use a large and beautiful hosta.

Thank you!

I would think in your area it would take some morning sun ok, but I would want it to have high or dappled shade during the hottest part of the day. Just make sure it is well watered.

Yesterday I ended up ordering -

Fragrant Queen
Fireworks
Night Before Christmas
Loyalist
Guardian Angel

....and of course, Frosted Jade! Hurray!

Any of which will suit this area quite nicely, I think. Lovey dubby

Thanks everyone for all your input! Big Grin
