Seedlings have really greened up since adding the the 15-0-15 a few days ago. I should have my first seedling bloom today from the babies that were planted last september. I have also applyed round-up to the weeds in the middles so they should be nice and brown in a couple of days.

I have heard that Geo Doorakian recommended using lawn fertilizer in early spring, on daylilies. Full of nitrogen.
I think Paul Limmer has done this as well. Both have great amended soil. Both grow daylilies in the north.

Your seedlings are looking fantastic! Is there an envious smiley?

This was blooming today.
This isn't one of mine, it's James Hall's seedling and future intro called BUDDY'S BETSY. It's one his cousin, Betsy, picked out to be named for her. He said he probably wouldn't have kept it, but she loved it and wanted it to be named for her. I remember last year when it was in the back area (before it was moved to the front yard) you could see it clear across the yard.

I almost forgot to take a photo of this seedling, I dug, cleaned and packed 80 daylilies yesterday for shipment this morning. This thing was a lot more yellow before the sprinklers came on and it had been in the sun all day. I am glad James has someone to take photos for him, I love the man, but he is the worlds worst when it comes to taking photos. Very nice seedling and photo, keep taking and posting those photos Michele.
Not much to look at, but its up hill from here (SET MY SOUL ON FIRE X ANGELS GATHER AROUND 5" bloom on an awful scape.

I'm so glad you have blooms starting on your babies!! I sprayed mine yesterday with Accelegrow M, which is basically just sea kelp, to give mine a little encouragement to send up some scapes.

Hurray! Hurray! I agree

Hi all -- I have been hybernating and have finally woken up!! Since this last week the temps have been 80 degrees in MN I decided to rake back the leaves that have been protecting the garden beauties and guess what I found! ?? Confused
Daylily sprouts - Blinking -- I was like -- what in the world is going on -- it's Minnesota and these do not appear until May and it's March! Shrug!
After hours of raking piles and piles of leaves off my beauties I couldnt believe my eyes -- at lease 50% of my dalylilys are starting to poke thru the ground! No sign of Hosta's yet but WOW! Maybe spring is here!

All I can say is, please dont freeze/snow/hail etc etc!!! Whistling

These have 5-6 fans each. I have quite a few of these. As you can see in the last photo, the other seedlings tower way above this one

I doubt it, but you never know with daylilies since the genetics can go wayyyy back. All the seeds I planted were from large flowers, but I will look tomorrow and see what the parentage is on them.
