These 2 are in a warm eastern exposure, between a wall and a cement driveway and are always the earliest for me. The same varieties in other locations in the garden are just starting to emerge.

Those look so nice. But, I'm not really thrilled with the prospect of going home and seeing how my hostas faired with the freeze we had last night and there is supposed to be more coming for next Tuesday and Wednesday nights... grrrrrrrrrrrr. Thumbs down

Yes, it's frustrating. Yesterday evening they said possibility, so I called my hubby and tell him bring plants in. This morning, I say take plants back out, this evening I say bring them back in. Even the weather man is confused. They better stop before I wear-out my Husband. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

My hosta fared much better than I had anticipated. But we're supposed to get more cold weather next Tuesday and Wednesday, so.... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.... Smiling

Nothing that far along, fortunately, but I've got many that have poked up above ground. Closest to opening are Chinese Sunrise and Korean Snow.

Here are more pictures of Montana auuremarginata. The first is today in a warm spot on the east side of the house. The second is on the north side of the house. Quite a difference.

I got three types of hostas in this pot..Wide Brim, Aureomarginata and Minuteman. When I moved and repotted them in this container last year, I did not consider how big they really grow, am a newbie with them then... Big Grin I just wanted to put them in the shadiest part of the yard without toasting in our triple digit heat.

But one of them is definitely sprouting..pips coming about..I would like to think it is the Wide Brim one..it was the biggest of the three last summer and easily dwarfed the others then.

Here they were last summer 2011: cannot even see much of the spider plant under the hostas foliage.

Beautiful Lovey dubby , Might want to separate them right about now. Whistling

You can keep them on the small side if you divide them often, but Aureomarginata gets about 68 inches wide. Do you know which Aureomarginata do you have? I am assuming 'Montana'.
If you want something for a pot, focus on the mini hostas, the mice, etc. Mine are about four-five inches wide, I ordered a couple more and two have not come up yet, cameo and I also have blue mouse ears, frosted mouse ears, snow mouse and I ordered pandoras box and a couple others, I will be putting them into a styro pot that looks like a wiskey barrel. Here is what they look like now.

Wow those are lovely looking Hostas Susan! I think I like that Snow mouse a lot Hurray!

Ah, am such a newbie Big Grin I bought my Hostas on a whim in 2010 maintained them that year in their individual little pots, put them of all places under the sun Rolling on the floor laughing Then later as I got to read more about them realized my folly..so in 2011 I decided to repot to that solitary container. I want to wait to see where the other pips are, so far only one set is showing up..then I will see if I can move them to their own separate containers once again. Big Grin

Hosta sprouting

A hosta plant sprouting out of a pot. Filmed over the course of 12 days using a Canon GL2 in time lapse mode, then the footage was sped up using NLE software.

Every 3 seconds of this video is one day in real life.
