I thought it might be fun to start a thread for the first daylily bloom or scape seen in your garden with sharing WHERE you are located, whether the bloom was from a recently purchased daylily (their time) or bloom time in your garden.

While making a new bed this morning, helper and I found my first scape.

On Brunette, also called Nada, also called something about an island (I forget - Marvin discovered it on the island - where is my memory?)

You know all those early yellow varmints?

This one is Brunette!

It won't bloom until May, normally. Scape only 3 inches tall (I divided the plant)
I have some now potted, if anyone is interested.

Gezz, certainly no scapes here. Some of my daylilies aren't even very tall yet. Leaves have a way to go until they finish growing out. That is how early it still is here. Should be pretty much the same your way.

I noticed yesterday that I have a scape on my Peppermint Delight, I recieved it late last year. Shocked to see it. I have been covering it at night the last couple nights because it has gotten down to the 30's.

I have a scape on my TET. PEPPERMINT DELIGHT too -- can't wait to see the blooms! And I have a few others that I'm excited about, but I know it will be a few weeks before I see any actual blooms.

I've found about five scapes this week:
Peppermint Delight
Red Cloud Mesa
Four Diamonds
and two I can't remember.

These were all lined out last fall.

I found 2 scapes the other day. Can't remember at the moment on which daylilies? But they weren't on the extra earlies. One was on a short, just coming up proliferation. So it's got to be left over from last spring I'd think? It's way too early and I doubt the blooms will look very good as we are too cool this time of the year. Tempts have been below normal for a month now, and normal isn't warm enough to produce good daylily blooms here until June anyway.

I don't see anyone sharing WHERE they are located as lilylady suggests (she didn't even let us know) Smiling Smiling

We got hit hard with frost last night, a lot of my plant foilage is lying on the ground. It's a good thing I don't have scapes yet!

I think it fun to see what is blooming where and how soon with this weird weather we have been having.

And...

north of Boston is on my posts, up in the top right! I always look there when I read a post since several put where they live, there... but I still probably should have mentioned it in the post!

I still haven't seen Brunette's (Nada) scape above the foliage yet.

Sorry to hear that frost is getting gardens around the country. Been cold here. (40s) but this weekend will be 60 again. Kinda more normal temps. But the wind has been steady. The cold has allowed the daffs and forsythia to stay going. Yippie!
