Only dead fish go with the flow!

All of my Summer Snowflakes, Leucojum aestivum are popping out of the ground and some are even blooming! They are right on time. These guys usually get me raring to go for Spring.

Anyone else seeing new growth and blooms?

I've been sick with the flu. I need to go check on my hellebore but other than that I am not really expecting anything till spring. I did not realize 'Summer Snowflakes' bloom in the middle of winter. LOL. Do they self seed or spread?

They spread (bulbs), I've never had any success getting seed out of them even with hand pollinating. They tripled in quantity in about 5 years.

Ditto! If you have an International Foods section in your grocery store see if they have Badia Hibiscus Sorrel Tea. It's an awesome tasting tart tea that will warm you up all over and clear your sinuses. It's made from the calyxes of Hibiscus sabdariffa. I grow out about 10 plants every year and harvest the calyx's in the fall then dry in my dehydrator.

@Xeramtheum, fabulious! You must be reading my mind because I just turned on the tea kettle. All I have is the SLEEPYTIME celestial seasonings herb tea. It does not seem to have any Sorrel in there?

I mainly just wanted something hot,

I will check on the 'Badia Hibiscus Sorrel Tea' when I go to Farm Fresh, I know they have a International Food Section.

Hi,

Thanks for the tip about 'Badia Hibiscus Sorrel Tea'. I shall try it too.

I have got a yellow rose blooming this time of the year. The flowers are almost gone but it has got another bud.

The primulas and polyhanta's are in bloom as well as the Kaffir Lilies in pinks reds and whites. The pansies are in flower too.

The cyclamens are beautiful in full bloom at the front garden. But the ones at the back garden has got lots of leaves but no flowers. Yet the back garden is more secluded that the front!?!

The Christmas box bush is in bloom with very nice scent.

My May flowering oriental Lilies are all popping out of the the ground too. These are too early indeed. And I am afraid that later snow/ frost will get them.

The Cerinthe has got its usual nodding "purple ends at the very top of the stems.

But there is no sign of the late winter flowering snowflakes nor the crocuses yet. Something is not right! The dwarf bulbous rockery Irises have got their leaves . They are the ones who will flower first at the end of February early in the bulbs section well before the winter Aconites.
