Help, as I previously mentioned I started out last year wanting to buy a couple African Violets. I stay at home a lot so I bought them off of eBay. Shipping was prohibitive but I soon discovered they "bundled" plants for nothing or $1 more each depending on the vendor. I don't know what got into me but I ended up with more than I intended by a vast difference.

I thought well I would sell them on eBay this spring, but I had a LOT to learn. Unfortunately tags and names got jumbled and I have a lot more un-named babies than I know what to deal with. (I won't even get into that.) On top of that a friend gave me a couple (one extremely prolific) and another friend told me about vast markdowns at our supermarket. These actually were far prettier than eBay's but there was no variety name given to any of them.

Now I have babies upon babies and I want some of my shelf room cleared by next summer. I know you guys would go to an "African Violet and other Houseplants" garage sale but how many others would? Aye-aye-aye! Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks,
Leda

Hi @Leda,
If I already showed you these please forgive me. They are blooming again or I should say "still" and I have separated them and cleaned them up a bit and they are still going strong. My Rob's Sticky Wicket leaves are showing some signs of new growth. Hurray! Hurray! I only have 6 AVs.

Yes and I am so happy because I have never done AVs before I did these. A few of the girls told me how to do it and I did and I am thrilled. I sold two of them already and I still have a few others. They are from a real old hand me down pink Noid AV.

Tee @SongofJoy,

I always have some blooming. Many are still trying to root. Oh goodness, me!

Tee, I have goofed up the plants so badly. I was not in a sane last year, maybe "temporary insanity." I needed to distract myself from a bad life changing event. I did not know the consequences of too much fertilizer until the leaves turned hard and brittle. Then I had to do research and discovered the fertilizer was the problem. Many have recovered, but some have not. One looks like a nuclear disaster but blooms well.

So, I still enjoy them and will have to figure out what to do with them as they grow. I have 14 shelves and many are growing well now.

I hope that answers your question.

Here is the first bloom on this little gem. It is called Pink Feathers. It was given to me and I think it is a miniature. Not sure. Need to ask when I see the lady who gave it to me again.

Here is my one and only Chimera AV. It thought it was going to die, but I just kept hoping and here it is, blooming again. Whew...that was a close one. Thumbs up

Just feel inspired to share some of my AVs. Almost all of mine are Noids. With Fibromyalgia my brain forgets to do some things like transfer stakes or move tape, you get the idea.

The first one is Morgan's Festival, I won't go into how I remember it....

Tee, I bought a set of three at a Big Lots or Dollar Store. Now I can only find one. I think most people like the doilies better than the plants.... Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Gorgeous kkay! I love how the varieties look different with every blooming. (I am talking about mine.) For the most part I don't know what they are. Just grow them for the fun of it.

kkay,

I have some Russian leaves that came with an order of other violets as a gift. They were quite prolific. They are still small. I can't wait for the blooms!
