What's looking good at the moment in your garden. I haven't had time so I am way behind in weeding and slug control. Fortunately the woodland plants don't take much care (and that is a majority of my yard).

Those are so beautiful. I have a few trilliums that need moving, kind of afraid. Any tips Jewell? Love the 2nd picture. So much to look forward to this month.

As with each spring, I always have high hopes of being more organized. This year, I am trying to only buy what I can actually get into the ground within a day or two, and then follow-through with that before buying anything else. We'll see how long that lasts... Although I do have to say I am dividing and relocating more and more from existing plants in my yard which will perhaps bring more cohesiveness to my beds.

Deb, I empathize with garden maintenance. I hesitate to call it work, I enjoy it too much. Lovey dubby The weather, work and weeds are not cooperating with garden upkeep. I still have last years stalks on perennials on beds I haven't cleaned up. Am really disappointed at the number of slugs showing up. Need to get fresh cedar mulch spread or raked to destroy there trails. Did get a few perennials moved, divided and shared. Have this next week off so hope the rain lets up. Don't have a full set of rain gear any more. Blinking

Julia what a nice variety of primroses. Your bergenia has a really nice colored flower. I got some in trade last year and was wondering if they came with different flower colors. I hadn't really paid much attention since I'd never grown them before.

I have 5 different varieties but they all are variations of pink blooms. I tried to get a picture of 'Lunar Glow' but they were fuzzy. May try again but it is magenta pink. I like these for the winter color. Love the double primroses. Wish I liked to work in the rain but not this gal.

Pics look great! I worked outside all day yesterday. Endless weeds, etc. I'm so far behind on starting things in the greenhouse---worried I'm going to have to buy a lot of annuals this year that I normally start from seed, as it is getting late. And I'm not terribly motivated to spend time in my greenhouse for some reason.

I'm discovering that I lost A LOT of plants this winter. Or others were badly frost damaged. Very disappointing. We had 10 days of 15 degrees and sunny with no snow cover back in December. It did so much damage to my yard. It's really quite shocking. I wielded a chainsaw by myself a few weeks ago to cut down 15 huge (each 10 feet x 10 feet) ceanothus shrubs (mostly dead) that formed a hedge by the road. It took two dump trucks to haul away the debris. I paid some guys to dig out the massive stumps. I might do a thread to show the progression of that project. I ended up installing a bunch of new shrubs and trees. I don't dare do ceanothus again. It was an unbelievable amount of work to get those out of there. I discovered that I absolutely love using a chainsaw, however. That part was fun. Between this project and my shed project, there is little time for the greenhouse and my vegetable garden.

The light wasn't cooperating for me to get good photos yesterday. Lots in bloom though.

Here are some tulips + ribes. I like the orange and pink together.

That's so sad about the ceanothus shrubs but that can happen with those. Love to see your before and after pictures. Gorgeous tulips Stephanie. I want a battery operated chainsaw for pruning some of my giant rodies. I did pick up a battery powered weed whacker and blower. The ones with the motors are just to heavy and I can never get them started. Grumbling We will see how they work.

Looks good around my yard except I bought some of those fancy daylilies and they must have rotted because no appearance has been made yet. I still have hope. They sure are not like the ones I bought years ago that grow like weeds but those beautiful blooms got me. Also had some rotted Iris. This has been such a wet spring. Rained all day yesterday, today looks promising. I'm working on a new raised bed for my sedum and Sempervivum, a rock garden like thing.

Sharing my excitement that my Penstemon 'Husker Red' self sowed and made 4 babies. So exciting when a perennial that you really like does that. Hurray for free plants. I'll be moving these over to my new beds.

I've been busy trying to regain control of my beds (what a lot of weeds!), but here's what's coloring up for me this month:

Hyacinth's about done, azalea just opening, daffs on their way out

So lovely. I love that the trees are leafing out. Nothing beats that lime green color of the earliest hint of leaves.
