Hello -

I had a Facebook friend suggestion that I join this forum because you all might be able to help me with my 2 problems.

Problem 1 -
My husband and I moved into our house June 2012, so this is only our 2nd spring there. The previous owners had lived there since the 50s, but have since passed away. As new things come up in the spring, I keep trying to identify what they are. I have some basic garden/flower knowledge. I can identify a tulip, a daffodil, and a lilac bush, but beyond that, I am lost. There are some plants that I think are Irises, some that I've been told are probably day lilies, I have some bushes that I think are rhododendrons and another that I think azaleas. Hopefully, as things start to bloom here in NY, I'll be able to get you guys more pictures.

Problem 2 -
I really like taking pictures of my flowers (and dog!) and sharing them with people, so I hope you all can help me by enjoying the pictures I post. I think I am flooding all of my FB friends with them right now.

I noticed that there is a butterfly & bee forum, which I'm super interested in stalking. We will be getting our first package of honey bees in a few weeks and my plan is to spend the summer adding bee friendly flowers, shrubs, & trees

Look at the complete list of forums, you will find a plant ID forum. That is where you will want to post you pictures of the plants you need a name for.
There is a forum for general gardening, one for garden pics, one for daylilies etc. So just study the forums and decide where you want to post pics and chatter. There is a forum for just about everything and Dave has just recently added a couple of more.
If you have an interest in plants this is the right place, just like the name says "All Things Plants".

We love pictures! Adding them to our database is a lot of fun and gets a lot of attention to the photos. You'll see once you do a few how fun and addicting it can be.

Lots of helpful people here. Like Seedfork said, there is a forum to fit almost anything and, if it doesn't fit in a 'regular' forum, it will surely fit in the Sandbox.

There are also two threads just for pet photos and talk, including one specific to the Northeast (although anyone is welcome to join in).

We all love chatting about and sharing photo's of our plants and gardens so you've definitely come to the right place and I know you will love it here! We have many knowledgeable members who are always willing to answer questions and help. There are many members from your part of the country too and there's even a forum dedicated to Northeast Gardening: http://garden.org/forums/view/... where you will find folks who grow the same type of plants as you. Although we are mainly a gardening site, we gardeners love our pets too and although we don't have a forum strictly for pets there's a thread going in the "Sandbox Forum" where folks have been chatting and sharing photo's of their pets:

Thanks Debra! I took that photo a couple of days ago with my old little flip phone. We were taking our dog Bo for a ride in my husbands truck (which has become a daily ritual.) Every evening @ 6:30 p.m. the dog comes and stares at us and when we ask him what he wants he starts wagging his tail and getting all excited. We started taking him for an evening ride about two weeks ago and now whenever I ask him if he wants to go for a ride in Daddy's truck he takes off to the kitchen/garage door, dancing around until I get his leash on. On that particular evening I was wishing that I had my camera with me but alas I didn't think to take it ... the phone photo's are a bit grainy but I just loved the colors of the sky!
