Hope every one is enjoying the day. No big plans here. Had a cookout and had my MIL come over and too much food. Girls have outgrown fireworks so a relaxing day!

Nothing special going on here today; we don't really do anything for the holiday ... well, we did work in the yard all day as I have been doing all week! I cut back a very large boxwood hedge that was dying and we had some guys grind the stumps yesterday so hubby went and got sod today and we laid sod in that area. It's so hot and difficult to work in 90º heat but we got it done! I kept saying we should have waited for winter to do such work ... but it's done now and hopefully we'll get some rain this evening to water in the sod; heard thunder and there are storms in the vicinity but so far nothing here in our neighborhood! If the rains don't hit we'll set the irrigation system to come on.

We thought about going somewhere locally to watch fireworks tonight but we're just too tired ... we're getting take out from Texas Roadhouse and will stay home and watch the fireworks on t.v. .... if we can manage to stay up that late!

We were working out in the yard all morning to get some stuff done before the storms hit and I got a few pictures before the rain, thunder and lightning began!

Tufted Titmouse

Love the Goldfinches and what a cute pic of the Titmouse in the birdbath! I know I heard the chattering of a Tufted Titmouse last week but never did spot the little bird. We used to have quite a few of them visit the feeders daily at our other house (which was only about a mile away) but they are scarce at best here and I put out the same seeds, fruit and mealworms etc. that I put in the feeders at the old house.

We've had thunder storms all afternoon so this is the only bird photo I've managed to get today ... a very wet Red-bellied Woodpecker clinging to a Palm Tree in the yard:

I promise I will photograph a bird other than a Cardinal when one shows up. Been a bit slow with this fabulous weather. I think all the birds took a little vacation.
