I know several of us have pets. Thought maybe we might enjoying sharing photos and pet talk!

Here are my 4 kitties. Two of them are quite elderly now.

What are their names? I love the squishy face on #2, and #3 is a beautiful picture of a beautiful cat!
I have no pets, but one day we'll probably get a dog. Up until recently, I have been able to say that I have enough poo to clean up after in the form of my two kids, but now the little one is potty trained and I can't use that excuse anymore! Hurray! Seriously we're not at home enough during the day for pets, except maybe a fish.

Hilarious!
#1) Technically 'Emma' but I always just call her 'Baby'. She's the youngest and shyest of the 4--well, she's 6 years old now, but I always think of her like this:
Thumb of 2014-08-04/Catmint20906/582902

#2) Mr. Worf (as in Star Trek's Mr Worf), my only boy. He is currently the oldest one (17 years), and he is a sweet, benevolent and laidback 'senior feline statesman'. Hilarious!

#3) Chloe--she's alpha cat, very large, affectionate, and a little nutty, but we love her. ;-) She is not Baby Emma's actual mother, but she was about a year old when we got Baby Emma, and she just took her in as her special baby. :-)

#4) Natasha. This photo is of her as a kitten. She's 15 years old now. My DD dotes on her -- hard to get a recent photo of her without my DD in the photo, too. Very sweet, cuddly kitty.

Lovely kitties! I have had cats most my entire life. Very unusual for me not to have a cat but when my last cats passed on I had no pets for afew years and then got my little dog last February. I have not had a dog in 30 years!

Lily is about 12 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs 10 pounds. She is nearly a year old now, her birthday is in August. She is a Papillon.

She is very active and athletic and energetic. Also such a sweet loving dog. Always following me around looking for attention.

Most days I take her for a long exercise walk each afternoon. At least for a mile and a half but many times we go three miles. Love walking with the dog, I find it relaxing.

I love your cats and admire the fact that they look great for their ages. Shows you take care of them. I had Siamese for years but when my last one passed realized my allergies went away.. maybe, just maybe I was allergic to cats! Perish the thought. I have one barn car named Lucky. She must be nearly 10 y.o. at this time. She is a feral and had 6 babies under the neighbors barn, they wondered over here because we had barn cats. I trapped them, had them neutered and returned and one by one they disappeared, were killed by predators or just died of old age...my one barn cat was nearly 18. I can not remember how many babies she had over the years. Back to Lucky....black as night and still unable to touch her.
Here she is on her throne...she loves to climb this pole and sit on it watching the neighbors chickens and peeps. That pole holds up pieces of plywood we use as a windbreaker since most of our storms come from that direction. One blizzard took the panels right out of the greenhouse before we got smart and put up a windbreaker.

Now, here is Sir Charles of Concord aka Charle....my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel...3 years old and funniest dog I ever owned. Strictly a companion dog and goes everywhere with me in the house but outside he must stay on a leash since he is also a hunter (he thinks). He chases Lucky because she teases him and then he will not come back when called. Hundreds of dollars of private lessons did not help his natural instincts. So, we live with it. He eats anything he can and hates riding in cars.

Then there is the flock...or what is left of the flock. I bred and sold exotic birds for years at my farm we called Laurel Run Bird Farm because the entire one side of the 2 acres was nothing but mountain Laurel. It was so beautiful. I raised medium and small parrots, lovebirds, canaries, parrotlets, senegals, conures, etc. When I closed the business and moved here, I brought with me 12 birds (I have 3 left at this time)...all I bred and raised but never sold for one reason or another. All but one, that one is Gunny, the double yellow headed amazon, who I purchased as a baby and raised him. I bought him for my husband, a retired Maj. in the USMC who was dying of lung cancer and I felt Gunny would be a good companion for him since he was at the farm all the time when I was working. They became really good friends but he never lived long enough to see Gunny look like this. Gunny is now 21 years old and just a real devil bird.
Thumb of 2014-08-04/JB/c62df2

Last but not least are the other two...Sage (a green pied lovebird) and Tweeter (a sun conure)...both are getting older and are really the best of friends. They go back and forth into each others cages all the time.

Rita, yes, she looks very bright and alert! Wow, that is a lot of good, healthy walking! Smiling And you do it in this heat and humidity?? My admiration for you both is soaring!!

thanks for your kind words, JB. That is interesting that your allergies went away after your last kitty passed. I would be very unhappy if that happened to me! I've always had this fear that either I or my DD would develop a cat allergy but so far (knock on wood) we're in the clear.
That was very goodhearted of you to trap, neuter, and return all those babies! Ferals are interesting, aren't they? I have two that hang out in my back yard on a fairly regular basis.

Thumb of 2014-08-05/Catmint20906/eb6c0a Thumb of 2014-08-05/Catmint20906/f0c096

They will let me get only so close to them before they take off, but I do my best to keep an eye on them when they're around. There is apparently a feral cat colony on the next block over, and these 2 are part of it--they have the notched ears--but they have several yards that they visit, and seem to enjoy lounging in mine and the neighbor's.

Sir Charles sounds like quite the character! Hilarious! And what beautiful birds!! Thumbs up That is quite a menagerie you have! Smiling

Lily needs her exercise or she is just too fill of mischief. Still very much a Puppy. If its too hot and humid we walk later in the late afternoon and do the shorter versions. Otherwise we walk for miles.

We walk around the neighborhood. I have various routes I can go so mix it up. Also sometimes we drive a short distance to this park in town where dogs are allowed. Then we walk in the park. At least I walk but Lily can really get her exercise as she runns all around off leash. She loves to run flat out in really big circles all around me.

Rita, you are so happy since you got Lily...she is the best therapy you could have. She will keep you moving and young. I am so happy you got a good dog and not one with problems. I am so jealous that I can no longer walk the way I used to. I enjoyed doing it but now I am so afraid of falling. I hate getting old.

JB I think you are remarkably busy and active. I am always astounded at all you do! Thumbs up

As to Lily, I just adore her. She is the best thing to happen to me in a long time. She makes me laugh with her funny antics and she keeps me busy walking and playing with her.

Charle was helping me do laundry the other day and he got caught up in my sports bra...look at that face. He knew he was in trouble when I walked in and saw the clean laundry on the floor and the bed. I love that little dog, but he is so bad at times.

Oh yes, they can be naughty dogs sometimes.

My little dog had her vet visit today and received various dog shots. Now she is sleeping, worn out from her adventure that she really didn't want to have. Still she was a good girl and behaved herself nicely.

She wanted to crawl on top of me while we were at the vets instead of standing on the exam table. Still, they were very good and gentle with her. But vet said she is in excellent health and condition, passed her "wellness exam" with flying colors.

Lily weighed in at 10 pounds 12 ounces. Lean and fit and trim. No wonder as we walk 2-3 miles most days. She has a lot of energy.
