My first little iris opened two weeks ago. It was a little purple NoID less than four inches tall.

Today my first SDB is open. It bloomed during the thunderstorm that came through this morning. It is still rain wet but it is blooming.

It is, Arlene. And today it is so cold and the wind is really blowing after the front moved through. It really is nice to see blooms. smiles

Any bloom is welcome right now but yours are special. We can't expect irises for another months and even they will just be tiny yellow irises, so your photos are a delight.

This thread will be slow but as the blooms increase I will try to keep on task so I can keep track of their bloom dates here. Lazy, huh? lol

Haha! That's why I take pictures... to keep track of bloom times... I've got a book, but am also somewhat lazy. nodding

I for one am really looking forward to seeing your SDB collection! And if you slowly feed us photos then it will just whet our appetites for more. You call it lazy, I call it clever. Hilarious! Hilarious!

I keep an online spreadsheet but when the irises are really blooming and there is work to do in the garden and other gardens to tour I fall behind in keeping up with the spread sheet. It is easier to post a photo and let the ATP site remember for me. I can always go back and fill in my spread sheet later.

I counted 80 different cultivars showing bloom stalks yesterday. Some are just barely showing but they are there and I expect more. This is my crazy time of year. I think it was Neal who said he could just sing and dance in his garden as it comes alive. I think waiting all year for a bloom just makes the bloom wonderful. IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!

Me too. Weeks away. Sad

Both of them just beautiful, Bonnie -- and a sight for sore eyes.

I have just one complaint -- I think you should have titled the thread *Bonnie's Bloomers*!!! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Rob, my Rainbow Rim has a bloom stalk but it is another week from blooming unless we get some really warm weather. The little guys are beautiful and so cute too that you will not be able to resist growing a garden of them. I grow all sizes and there is a lot to like about all of them.

I only have a couple of the little ones. This one bloomed a couple days ago and I have a new Noid. It was given to me as Buccaneer...which is an historic TB so I was guessing it was Little Buccaneer. Wrong! So now I have no idea what it is.
The snails chewed it up a little but you can still see what it looks like. Any suggestions for an ID would be welcome!

Oops! Bonnie...I should have put this on a different thread! The talk about SDB's just reminded me about this one. Sorry!

No problem. It is a very interesting little SDB. Do you have more photos and the average height of all bloom stalks? I don't grow Little Buccaneer but I have been looking for it. Found it yesterday at the site Sunrise Orchard in, of all places, New Zealand.
