Interesting; can you explain why you do this?

is this to fatten up their caudex?

If mine wobble, I add a little mix around them. But, say, why, please?

its been a habit of mine to bury seedlings, and adeniums is not exempted to that rule, well for me that is,
to strengthen there stems and not to be leggy, and stronger support for the seedlings, because most of the time, seedlings before there cotyledons can still grow roots on it,
for example, tomatoes, you can bury the tomatoes 1 to 2 feet and it will grow more roots around it, more roots, more nutrients they can get,
but this is my first time growing this species, who knows what will happen, but im %100 sure it will not rot, i have lots of experience in growing seedlings of all kinds, so ill stick with my instincts on how i grow them

In our horticultural practices in planting in the ground, a slight "hill" is made then the vegetable seeds or young plant is planted, then soil is mounded on top. The soil, of course, will gradually settle, sinking the roots, plus rain will wash down some of the soil. So every few days, soil at the base will be "raked" up to the mound. (The same thing is done for newly planted young fruit trees like lemon, lime, mango, etc. for a few months.)

I know that the Filipino and Chinese also do this as I have personally seen them do so. I think this practice allows for development of more feeder roots as well as aeration of the soil, not to mention prevention of root rot. Also, I know that in the "states" pumpkins, watermelon, squash, and some others are planted on hills. And I think this is for the same reason mentioned above.

I don't do this for plants in my raised garden, nor for potted plants for obvious reasons. However, for mature adeniums, I understand the wisdom of growing in mounded soil in a pot. Besides being aesthetically pleasing, this function helps prevent root rot and provides aeration.

i lived in kaneohe for 3yrs then moved to ewa beach till now

jericson22..we live here in California, geographically Central Valley area already but about 60 miles east of San Francisco, so we get the dry heat of summer and the cold valley inversion during winter

well i get all year summer here lol, i love tropical weather, i lived in va beach before when i was in the army, 4yrs, hated it lol, i dont like 4 seasons hehehe

I just have 2 remaining right now..both are Adenium obesum, the two that has survived my care
