Share your pictures of honey bees here.

Here's some of mine.

What you see when you take the outer cover off a healthy hive

Bearding, which is the beekeeping term for bees gathered outside the hive. In the next photos they are bearding because it's hot.

Nice pictures Mindy! I hear the bee population is down. Alot of things are not getting the pollination they need. WE need to as a whole plant more plants that attract them.

Do you have us a list of what attracts honey bee's?

THanks everyone for the compliments on the pictures. DH took them for me.

Charleen I never got around to fixing the water things i intended to due to DH not helping me with fixing the drainage hole in the planter dish I was going to use. They found the feed trough that DH had brought up here from the pasture since it wasn't being used there. He filled it with dirt aiming to plant cucumbers in it but it didn't drain worth a hoot sitting on the ground so it holds water and is close to the hives.

Samantha I'm trying my best to get gardeners everywhere to consider planting plants for the bees. You can find 595 entries in the Plants For Honey Bees database

Winter bees. Notice how much larger they are than the spring and summer bees.

Thanks Tee. At their hive is about the only place I can get good pictures of them. They flit around too fast on flowers most of the time.

I don't have any hive (yet), but the yard is very full of honey bees. This one probably came from the wild hive up in a tree two houses away.

I don't plan on taking care of a hive, but my friend wants to put hives on my property next spring and she'll take care of them. I have an acre that has many many flowers (not sprayed) blooming spring summer and fall, and I have water gardens for a water source, so she thinks it's perfect.

I've always liked bees, and love honey and beeswax. I love photographing them.
