I don't see a thread like this for Hostas as we have for Daylilies, Perennials, etc. Would this be ok to start or did I miss something similar.

I am looking forward to this week of Hostas and hoping to learn many new things. I have several NOIDS that I hope I can get identification for. I moved a couple of nice ones yesterday knowing this isn't the best time for that, but I am hoping the overnight rains will keep them upright.
My Hostas follow the woods, so problems with tree roots has taken a toll on the poor things. Someone suggested an application of 10-10-10 and that seems to have done the trick. I applied it twice this spring , and they are really looking great again. I hope to lift the smaller ones and remove the tree roots, but that will be in the fall or early next spring.

Pretty shade beds! I've never really paid attention, but you're right...we need one of these threads here! Thanks for starting it. Maybe there will be more activity on the hosta forum with this thread?

This area gets shade only part of the day. The plants use to have more shade but we had to take down the trees that provided most of that shade. I fight with keepin these healthy. I am going to try the feeding tips. THANKS

That's a pretty spot, Vivian. I have many Hostas that get half day sun and do pretty well. My favorite hosta for sun all day, or shade, or anything you can throw at it is Francee. It's an old one that is attractive and never lets you down even when it fails to have enough water. I have given so many of those plants away, and it just fills right back in again. You will probably have to click on the picture to enlarge it, but you can see a whole row of Francee on the lower wall.

Here is one of my mystery Hostas. Everyone comments on the streaks, and some think it's a disease of some kind. It is perfectly healthy and looks like this each year, but I don't think it's named correctly. It was sold to me as Blue Edger, but when I look that up, I don't see my plant.
Anyone have any ideas?

Hey, I use a desktop but my spell checker not only checks my poor spelling it often totally rejects my words and places in its opinion of what I meant.

I did go outside today and took a few pics of some of my hosta. Don't have names for most of them.

I love golds for the contrast they bring. I wouldn't have a guess on this one.....

I ordered hostas from a Co-op years and years ago but lost the tags and never did get them listed. So I have some very nice named varieties but no id on them. Also I have picked up quite a few from plant swaps that came with no name. So many of the hosta look similar so it is hard to ID them. Here is another of my hosta just love the colors on this one.

I think this one could be my fav so hard to choose. There are so many shades in the leaves when you look close

This is one of my new favorites in the hosta world. I planted it mid summer last year, and I can't believe how it took off. I don't think I have ever had a hosta do as well as this one is doing.
