The red one looks like it could be possibly war chief. Thanks for the help.

I don't think the red one is War Chief. I hope you do get an ID because they're both beautiful!

It doesn't look like the red has purple based foliage and my War Chief does. You should check Dynamite out as a possibility. But I think your red may be too orange red for that one too. It is very pretty whatever it turns out to be!

Leslie -- that is Tom's NOID red that I sent to Richard, as well as my NOID Royal Purple. The red does have PBF -- but only very slightly here. That may change in Richard's environment. I'm still of the opinion that it is War Chief. I have no clue whatsoever what the Royal Purple is. Shrug!

I grow War Chief and have one of Tom's Red Noid too. Now just to get them to bloom in the same year. lol

Does the environment cause the flower to look slightly different from environment to environment?

Yes. There can be a lot of variation. I have War Chief in 3 locations and they're slightly different.

It's definitely not Dynamite. What about Sultan's Palace?

Tom's Red Noid grew in my garden this spring between Dynamite and War Chief. While it had some things in common with War Chief, it had many in common with Dynamite. My War Chief has PBF, Dynamite and the NOid did not. I did a close up comparison of Dynamite and the NOid on my thread.

NOTE: color variations are due to lighting when pictures were taken. Assume a color match.

So is one Dynamite, and the other Tom's, or are they both one or the other? Give me your guesses!!

A is the NOid and B is Dynamite

Mine has a fragrance, I think Dynamite does too. War Chief is a parent of Dynamite isn't it?

Sure look like the same to me, if as you say, the color is a match.
