It's that time of year when I start thinking again about which spring blooming bulbs I want to order. I finally placed my orders on Sunday, and here's what I got.

From Van Engelen
Crocus Ruby Giant 500
Tulip La Courtine 100
Tulip Renown 100

From Colorblends
Tulip bulbs Pink Cubed 200
Tulip Blushing Lady 200
Tulip Parrot Mix 100
Hyacinth Fondant 100

From Netherland Bulb Co
Tulip Sancerre 100
Tulip Greigii Casa Grande 100

I was enthralled by the pictures posted by @Gemini_sage (Neal) of crocus Ruby Giant this past spring, they were just gorgeous! So I had to get some.

I had no intentions of being a kilobulb again this year, but by the time I placed all of my orders, I was up to 1500 bulbs😱. I'll also be watching for when the sales start in the fall, and I may get a few more bulbs then. The majority of my bulbs ordered will be going in my front garden.

Which bulbs will you all order, and where will you get them from?

Annette

I was not going to plant bulbs this fall because I have so much pruning and logging that should be done. But the catalogues have started arriving and it is hard to resist!
I'll wait to see all the catalogues and might weaken and order. *Blush* *Blush* *Blush*

@Cem9165 (Annette),

Haven't ordered anything yet. Have you had any problems with Netherland Bulb Co before?

Wonderful selection Annette! Looking forward to seeing your Ruby Giants- are you planning to mass them together? That would be stunning! Regardless, they multiply so nicely that you'll see masses in no time.

I haven't ordered yet, but plan on adding a few daffodil varieties and more various little blue bulbs. I'd also like to get some of the little alliums, like:

Hi @Marilyn, no, I have not had any issues with Netherland Bulb Co before. They were my first online vendor that I ordered fall planted bulbs from, and what I have received has always been correct, and bloomed as expected. Tulip Sancerre from them that I planted years ago, has multiplied, and comes back every year. I love it so much, I ordered more this year Smiling

Thanks Neal! BTW, those are great looking alliums, I want to add a few more of the schubertii! Now, I'm waiting for the fall sales to start to pick up a few more bulbs.

The Ruby Giant will be planted in various spots in the front garden, and at the edge of the beds that contain my weeping Kwanzan cherry trees.

I haven't grown Big Ups, but they look gorgeous, and it seems that they come back for several years. Any tulip that returns is a keeper for me.

Thanks Annette. I tip my hat to you. I've been thinking about some of their other Darwin Hybrid blends also.

Wow Annette 100s and 100s of bulbs, that's a full time job!
My meager expenditures can't begin to compare. I had kind of been waiting around to see if Dutchman was going to offer a co op.
Here goes:
John Scheepers
Allium Globemaster 3
Double Narcissus mixture 25
Large Flower crocus mixture 25
Magical muscari 50
Ipheion White Star 25
Dutch iris mixture 50

From stilldew
Lilies Honeymoon, White Henryi, Anastasia, Double Sensation, Georgette, Judith Saffigna.

From Ramona Titus of Faraway Flowers
Lilies London Heart, Zambesi, Virgunga

The send button is about to be pressed on B&D Lilies
Bonboni
Silk Road
Orange Space
Golden Condor
Purple Life
Julie Fowlis

When Brent and Becky and Bloomingbulb have their fall sales I'll be on the prowl again. Rolling my eyes.

Nice selections Kabby! I'm also waiting for the fall sales, to see if there's anything else I want. I got one of my favorite tulips, La Courtine, 100 bulbs for $21 several years ago. It still coming back.

@Cem9165

Who has fall sales online? Or are you referring to local stores?

Wow! 100 bulbs of La Courtine still coming back after several years?! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Thumbs up

Annette I have tulip envy. I understand that Darwins are supposed to come back every yr here but I just can't make the leap yet. I don't think Dutch irises will last for the long haul for me but I'll see how it goes. All my spring bulbs were brand new this yr so I'm looking forward to the return of those plus my new ones.

Kabby, a lot of folks in the south have good luck with Dutch iris returning, so those may just surprise you.

Aside from early single tulip 'Flair', I dug and dry stored all my other tulips from Colorblends to re plant this fall. They are mostly late singles but there are some Darwin hybrids too. We've had such a wet summer, I'm really glad I did.

Dutch iris have been very good in my garden, they return every year (4 years so far). I added more last year, and if I get a chance and have the budget I will bet more this year.

I have never tried tulips that are suppose to come back year after year here. I have planted some of the leftover ones from gifts Betty has received in pots, but they never did anything.

@Seedfork I'm glad the Dutch iris did well for you. That makes me feel better about that purchase. Maybe a small order of tulips. Crying

@Marilyn and @Kabby, the La Courtine that haven't been nibbled by the critters come back, it's less than 100 each season, but enough to make an impact. They're planted on a slope, so they have good drainage.

@Kabby, try some tulips, you won't regret it😁.

Tulip Blushing Lady, Pink Impression, and Gudoschnik have also come back, but also not the full 100 of each amount either.

The Dutch Iris do return in my zone, I've had good luck with Apollo.

The fall sales haven't started yet, I usually wait until November to see what's on sale at Van Engelen. I've never seen a fall sale at Colorblends.

This fall, I'm going to remove all of the old tulips from the bed with my newly replaced Kwanzan cherry, and plant them in my back beds, where I hardly have any tulips. I plan on planting Tulips Pink Cubed, and Blushing Lady to have a prolonged bloom season.
