Welcome new members! Welcome!

Feel free to ask questions about the site in this forum. I'd suggest starting a new thread for each question, so that each gets the attention it deserves. But really, you can ask questions anywhere. We are a friendly bunch any anyone is glad to take questions.

All Things Plants is still a young and dynamic site, and Dave the owner/administrator/computer guru is constantly making improvements, adding features, and improving other features. A good place to keep up with those is the site talk forum. Don't be shy in suggesting new features either.

I hope you'll enjoy ATP and take advantage of all the features.

I love this site, but gardening is what I do to escape my stressful life. Even tho it looks like fun I'm sticking to gardening, no acorns for me.

Welcome, Judy! I'm glad you like it here. As time goes on and you discover all the fun and useful features, I hope you'll continue to enjoy it.

Gardening and reading are my escapes, too. There's nothing stressful about acorns, though. You earn them by doing nice enjoyable things, like adding photos of your pretty garden flowers to the database. Don't we all love to show off our pretties? And we "spend" acorns on things like buying ATP coffee mugs and shirts or buying "tickets" for raffles of wonderful garden books, flowers, or gift certificates. Just fun stuff, no work, but all a matter of choice. And once there was this "acorn fight" where we just all "threw" our acorns at one another. Just goofy and fun, nothing resembling work!

You should find forums to your liking, too. As gardeners we all tend to have a favorite "niche" we're looking for, and there are a lot to choose from here. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, we're friendly.

Can you help me...manuever my way on the database?

I was added my plant to my list and noticed that some of my plants are not listed. So do I add this to the database? I don't know the name of some of my plants; just that they are 'amaranthus' of some sort
or caladium.

Hi Betsy, there are entries for both Amaranthus
Amaranth (Amaranthus)

and Caladium
Caladiums (Caladium)

If you don't know the species or cultivar of your plants you can use these database entries.

Actually, I'm the only one who does the reviews.

Since the images load one below the other just backspace until they're side by side without erasing anything. Test it in the Sandbox forum http://garden.org/forums/view/...

Hi everyone! Smiling I'm just peeking in to introduce myself and can see that this is a great place to launch off into the rest of the site - I've been enjoying your tremendous plant database for months, and now feel ready to explore the many avenues and side-streets that make up the forum system. This is such a welcoming and helpful site - thanks so much to all who tend the garden here! Hurray!

That hasn't been implemented. Although we do give them 5 to get started if they ask about them Smiling That way we are giving to those who are interested.
