Does anyone have a great idea on how to cover cactus and succulents when it is pouring outside without moving them indoors? I need something homemade and affordable (less than $150.00) that will stand up to wind during storms but cover my plant collections when it is raining. I have a really huge collection going and have to protect my babies from the elements.

Cindybell, I use glass topped metal patio tables (2) and a coffee and end tables. They have worked well the last few years. I got them all from second stores like the Goodwill. Did have some metal racks that come with the plastic covers, but the plastic fell apart after the first year. It is nice sitting out and having the semps and sedums under the glass. Just wish I kept the glass a little cleaner

Clear corrugated fiberglass set up as a lean-to? With maybe an angle melted into the part that touches the ground so that the low end stands up a little higher?

You could bury one edge 12" deep and park some stones on that end. However, I fear that even if you bolt the high end to concrete pillars or 4x4s, a big flat sheet will act like an airplane wing in high winds. Not a good idea unless they can be cut into smaller sheets and really anchored solidly.

You don't want to see a 4x8 foot fiberglass sheet flying at your living room window with a few 4x4 posts dangling from it.
