Gorgeous blooms, Paul! FRENCH RIVIERA is one of my absolute favorites and always gives such beautiful blooms. But unfortunately GYPSY LORD is not happy with me and I think I haven't seen a bloom on it for two or three years now, even though I know I've added another rhizome. You just never know how these beauties are going to perform. I have discovered that Joe Ghio's grow better for me than Keith Keppel's and I think that's related to Joes warmer climate than Keith's -- more like my garden conditions. But then again, FRENCH RIVIERA came from the same climate as Keith's and I've been very pleased with it. Go figure!
How does ANOTHER WOMAN do for you, Paul? I'm toying with the idea of getting it one of these days.

I've had Circle of Light for 2 seasons, still no bloom. Maybe next year. I like Guardian Angel with that bright Choral beard. And you keep that Flirting one after me all the time. One of these days I'm going to give in and get it.

Gorgeous blooms Paul. Can I come live at your house? LOL
BTW -- thanks for the info on placement of parentage in hybridizing info. Can't find the thread that it was on, but appreciated your response. |

Oh Paul, you just gotta quit doing this to me!
I am going through your photos, and fell in love with Gypsy Lord Then continued down, and what do I see next/ French Riviera. Then..... Each succeeding photo, I fell in love with. I think I am one of those folks that hasn't met an iris she doesn't like!
I am just glad my Tuscan Summer is getting ready to bloom in a few days.~Jan

Paul, I really love that seedling. I think you should flag it and do something special with it -- like put it in a special spot to see how it clumps, etc. It is really gorgeous, looks better all the time! It's probably the FRENCH RIVIERA that put that special hand painted coloring in it --
Speaking of the curling or rolling that your ANOTHER WOMAN is doing, the first bloom on ROARING TWENTIES did that on the first day and I was really disappointed, but by the second day -- WOW! It's absolutely one of my favorites now (you know how that goes...). So maybe you'll be totally thrilled with it by tomorrow -- wouldn't that be nice?
Those are such beautiful blooms, and your pictures are great! So please keep up the good work, and I'm so glad that you guys are in the middle of your bloom season now!

| Paul, that seedling is looking really good. I like that light band around the falls, and then the dark lining on the edge, Very nice, and the Flirting goes on! Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results |

Paul, these pics are just amazing!! I can hardly wait for you to compare Revision. I did not get Revision. I am crazy about B.I. so it will be great fun to see your comparison. Thanks so much for the huge treat this afternoon when I got to view these pics. They make me swoon. What camera do you use, Paul?

katherine.....I use a Sony Cyber -shot 12.1 mega pixels. I am technologically challenged so I don't change the settings and the camera does the work. My one complaint is with trying to take a picture of a red rose or peony. I don't get any definition. The camera was a gift from my family and I'm almost 69 and it is the best present I ever received. I posted these pictures on cubits but will repeat here as I'm surprised at the difference in Brilliant Idea last year and this year. Revision is open and I will take a picture in evening light. It came as a gift with my order last year.

As to the difference. I purchased two more B.I. last year and they both bloomed this year. The one I had last year had two lovely looking fans but no stalks. The ones that bloomed paled in comparison to the one that bloomed the year before. They were not as color intense, had a smaller flower and overall less substance. I was able to get pollen and that was more my goal this year anyway. I hope they will perform in '13 more up to what I have seen in '11. A number of my iris were smaller than what I expected and that was the ones planted last season for the first time. That month less to prepare might have made a difference, too and very little moisture.
