I didn't do a birdcage I did a metal basket...its still growing in though so in another week I'll take photos. I used some cold hardy and some tender succulents...not a great idea (do you leave it out and see what dies, or bring it in and know that the cold hardy stuff isn't going to like indoors!)

You make up your mind as to whether you want container to be in or out and then re-plant accordingly (some little birdie posted a while back that they didn't want to be hauling pots indoors during winter anymore...anybody remember who that was???)

I love the planted cages too. I did get hold of a couple of old birdcages over the winter, now I'm just waiting for the weather to cooperate to get them planted.

Bev: It was me. I figured out the routine after the fact. I just bought allwinter planters and will keep them for semps and alpines. Succulents and echivareas will be inside in one pot that goes to the deck for summer.I'm sure I can manage just one.

Yes, JoAnn I remember mention of that and Good Decision!
There were other people too who also wanted to climb that bus and make their changing seasons for plants more simplier and less crowded in their abodes. I have to admit I brought indoors some succulent planters (which I never do) when we got a few days of 28 degrees at nite.

Bev :Its a matter of aging. I just run out of steam if there is too much to do attending to plant needs.
If I was 15 years younger it would be a whole different story. There are hard choices to make after 70.

Maybe in the future I'll need houseplants because I won't want to bother going outside... Thanks for sharing JoAnn!

Hey, whatever attitude gets you thru the day with a sense of accomplishment and a smile on your face is good!! That's what I've been shooting for these days, JoAnn.

I'm someone who also said that I'm finished moving plants inside...but this will be the year for that! I left the basket outdoors so the tender things all died on it, and the other stuff looks sortof weak...I did fill in with different type sedum, so just need to wait for that to fill in more! I'll take a photo today of the project!

You were the "birdie" I had in mind, Greg...and I did remember JoAnn "new year's resolution" too! Good luck you two with the new goals!

haha Thanks Bev! I'm already very ready to give pots of plants away to friends or friends of friends who want them! One family is closeby and I keep meaning to carry something over to them! No more winter roommates who don't pay the rent and want watering once a week (well except for the specific ones I'm keeping!

Its hard to bestirr myself when wearing 3 layers including fleece pants just to stay warm in minus temps. Once I am hunkered down for the day and its blowing and snowing ,I dont even want to water plants.
