30 huh ?
I transplanted the combo from a basket to a more permanent planter 2 weeks ago.
As the world knows we had a horrible winter and I think everything in the basket suffered even the sedums.

None of my plantings from last year are really waking up yet so I dont know the total damage. Compared to gardeners in moderate climates I dont have much to loose.
I'll take pix as soon as its daylight.

This is the Basket last August.

The basket had started to rot so I transplanted to a dish a few weeks ago.
I dont think anything is living as they look the same as they did in the basket.

JoAnn, as my nephew, when he was very young and going to daycare learned from his teachers to say, "Clean Up, Clean Up"...

Losing 30 semps is nothing when it's out of a few hundred. I don't keep succulents in the house, but I did have to resort to bringing most of my container plantings indoors for a month when temps dropped to 28. These were hard to fit indoors where there was minimal good light exposure, all being succulents:

Now you can plan new additions to some of your pots...Have Fun!

Wow, what a lovely photo Bev.

Jo Ann, you are just behind in the weather department. Soon you will be catching up. Then you will know which have really survived, and which didn't. That's when you look for replacements that might do a better job of handling your winters. The semps should be fine, but some of the sedum may not handle your winters.

Thanks all; was glad to share and glad to have moved them back outside.

Yes, I think this last winter if we were observant (and how can one not noticed all the succulent leaves fallen off onto soil from a stem that now looks like licorice), should have taught us which plants will or will not make it thru tough winters or just low temps, in general. For me, it was the Portulacaria afra 'Variegata' that bit the dust in the slightly below freeze temps... Sad

Here is my mixed bowl of semps/sedum that I have had for YEARS. I totally ignore it as it is off in its own little corner. I don't think I have ever seen anything bloom in it.

Lynn : Thanks for the sedum tip. I will reserve judgment for a few more weeks.
Some of the sedums I just divided for the new planters are not looking good.

Lois,
I was drawn to this site from your picture on Pinterest! I absolutely LOVE your succulents in the birdcage. I just recently purchased a birdcage from a garage sale and wanted to fill it with flowers for my deck. When I discovered your picture, I knew this is what I wanted to do. I hope you would share the step by step directions on how to create this since this is my first time working with succulents. Please post any other creations you have done. I'd love to see them.
Enjoying this site so far. Have to learn all the dynamics, but I think this site will be fun and informative.

Happy Planting
