Hi everyone, my name's Cathy, and I am a chronic hobby-jumper. I just started miniature gardening this spring, as an offshoot of growing sprouts and microgreens to eat. The tiny garden plots are fascinating to create. I finished one 12" round garden, and gave it to my Mom, in the stroke rehab center. It gives visitors something to talk about, and makes her happy! Since I don't know much about plants, I'm hoping to learn a lot from all of you!

Thanks, everyone, for the nice, warm welcome! I currently have 3 gardens in various stages of completion. It's kind of expensive to buy the miniature plants, so I've been experimenting with splitting them into halves or thirds to get more mileage out of them. And I started some Kyoto Moss on a growing medium (~6 x 12") about a week ago, so I'm waiting for it to "take". The newest garden is contained in a cheap $15 plastic bird bath, so it won't need a table to be by the window.

What do you do with your completed gardens? I'm never going to be able to keep them all, and only know so many that would like one as a gift.

Yes! we would love to see photos of your gardens in progress. We all learn from each other here, and that is exactly how I became addicted to this little hobby (pun intended! LOL)

I have given mini gardens away as gifts, and also as raffle prizes any time a local charity is having a raffle. The mini gardens seem to be popular for the raffle prizes as I keep getting asked to create more of them I just need more hours in the day
