Where Do Cloves Come from?

Where do those little dry, hard, brown sticks we poke into hams come from? Seed pods? Vines? Trees?

Best to buy whole cloves, then grind them in an electric grinder. Ground cloves do not stay fresh for long.

For health reasons (and flavor!) I would suggest using real butter in this recipe. I recently found European cultured butter at my local Publix. It is probiotic like real butter is supposed to be.

I have been told that cloves deter mildew/mold...so I just started using (again) clove oil on my vacume cleaner bag...the 'exhaust' is lovely!!!! Green Grin!
