I have just been given a beautiful plant by a neighbour.
She asked that I make sure, and propagate it as her Mom and sister have been keeping it going
since the garden centers here no longer offer it.
She called it "Popcorn Geranium". The flowers, do indeed, look like pink candy popcorn.
I think it may also be called Pink Pandora from the 60s?

The strain may also be called tulip geranium?

Anyone know anything about old geraniums?Thumb of 2012-09-21/CarolineScott/cf4d70

Turns out it is probably "Appleblossom Rosebud" a cultivar from the late 1800s.
The small florets do not open because there are so many tiny petals in each.

Hi Caroline,

I'm glad you found the name of your old geranium; it's beautiful. I love the way it clusters. Does it have a scent of apple?

Not that I have noticed- as the leaves smell just like any pelargonium leaf.

Caroline,

Your plant might have been named Popcorn because when the tulip flowered plants came out in the 1960s, the names were changed from the original and here is a list of them: Pandora, Popcorn, Amy, in addition to the original Patrician Andrea and Pink and Red versions that were patented. There was a pale one, and while yours could be the Apple Blossom Rosebud, would check with people who knew the tulip flowered structure to see if you have a very old heirloom.

Welcome!
Thank you for the idea to check on this pelargonium.
I shall look into it again.
I have just gone from what I could find on line.
