Austrian winter peas grow well here. Anything else I can plant along with them for goat munching? I'm all ears!

The Yaupon shrub is plentiful for us in this part of the country and is evergreen and available all winter long, and the goats love it.

We sow winter grasses for our cattle, and I wonder how well goats would do on that. Things like wheat, annual rye, oats, etc.

My best suggestion would be to contact your county Cooperative Extension agent - if you have one. They can tell you what works best in your area. Here, we have snow - not much grazing that.

Ranchers around here also plant oats for winter forage.

There is a very productive and cold hardy (10 F) leafy green called 'Tyfon' of Holland Greens. Cross between stubble turnips & Chinese cabbage, Brassica rapa. 40 DTM, high yielding.

It was originally bred for forage and cover crop use, but the young leaves are tender enough for human salad. Very mild, no 'mustard oil' so even cows milk has no mustard taste. Cut-&-come-again every 35 day if cut 1" or more above soil level.

I don't know if it would be practical for goats.

Every spring I grow wildflowers. Every Oct., I let the goats in to eat the flowerless plants, and grass. Usually lasts until Feb. I have stopped sowing anything poisonous.
