A week focused on Wildflowers and Pollinators is scheduled for August 2013 here on ATP. Just like the recent Daylilies Week, there will be articles, tips, photos, etc. focusd on these two subjects, as well as a raffle.

If you would like to contribute an article (your own or by a professional or nurseryman who specializes in wildflowers), a photojournal, etc. there is plenty of time to start planning. Lots of contributions are needed.

Ideas and suggestions welcome!

I agree ... both of them would have a lot to contribute. There is plenty of time to think and prepare for this, but it's never too early to start (at least for me). Thumbs up

I would be more than happy to contribute pictures. I currently have thousands of photos covering about 250 positively identified plants. Articles are another story, I just can't get words down on paper. That's the biggest problem I'm having now with my own website. I have lots of photos but just can't seem to get the info filled in.

Good Idea!
Wildflowers and pollinators are somewhat neglected in gardening.
Please do remind us as we start next season-some are being sowed now too.

The article on the 24th on keeping pollinators happy by Horseshoe should be re run then.

Arif, during this year there will be a focus on different plants for a week each month. Here is the current schedule.

Trish said:
"It's been a hard process trying to find the best month to put each plant, but Dave and I feel like we've nailed it as best as we could.
January- Veggies and annuals
Febuary- Roses
March- Semps
April- Irises
May- Daylilies
June- perennials
July- Lilies
August- wildflowers and pollinators
Sept- bulbs
Oct- vines
November- houseplants/tropicals
December- crafts and gadgets"

So, what are you going to do with veggies in January. Should there be short stories of each veggie, for example a short autobiography of a Tomato or maybe Cabbage, etc or would you prefer a portfolio of photographs, catwalk style of Tomato or some other veg? Just an example but you can substitute the veggies and what will happen if I post local varieties because we find the newfangled hybrids to be bland and tasteless, all the goodness taken out by science.
No hurry, the night is still young and the two of us will be prowling the forums. Thumbs up
Regards,
Arif.

Howdy I tip my hat to you.

Tee and Josephine, as moderators will you two be overseeing the article topics for wildflower week? Just wondering as I thought that was how it worked for the rose week that is going on right now. Shrug!

I will be happy to contribute something too!
