How tall has the 'john creech' gotten, and how fast does it spread. The reason is the plants i seen at Lowes yesterday looked like a ground cover.Which is ok i am trying to cover up an ugly place Whistling of course with something that will bloom pretty.I may need to be looking for something that's an evergreen though. Sedum do die back in the winter, unless i planted something else behind it.I'm letting my mind get ahead of my pocket book.

I got a catalog in the mail yesterday,i've never heard of this place or don't remember ordering it?? Confused It's called Audubon workshop.Nice things and prices aren't bad on plants and they have a sale on!!! Hurray!

There is some Eragrostis spectabilis 'purple love grass' names a little confusing the grass turns red in late summer to early fall. The description says myriads of tiny pink seed heads create a cloud of color. 18" tall x 20" wide. They come in 3" pots for $6.99 or 2 or more $5.99 each.

Are there any white upright Sedum like 'john creech' that is low and spreads? Confused that would look good in front of the red grass.

I have to much to do and will be working on my yard for the next 40 yrs.and it won't be finished even when i'm 80 years old. Shrug! At least i know i'll have something to do for as long as i am able, then i'm going to sit in a chair and tell people what i want done. Rolling on the floor laughing
A green thumb comes only as a result of the mistakes you make while learning to see things from the plants point of view!!

Gardening is never done, and always evolving. That's what keeps out interest and gets us out exercising. Hurray!
John Creech is evergreen you your area, another wonderful one is Ruby Mantle. Has beautiful seasonal color changes and spreads fairly quick.
http://garden.org/plants/searc...

John Creech is smaller leafed that Ruby Mantle, and I'm not sure how fast it will spread.

Hear are some more varieties of Sedum spurium. http://garden.org/plants/searc...

Hope this helps?

Jojoe you're in the fun planning stage, and as you come across more/new plants you can always change things around!! I tip my hat to you. I began telling myself that people love to share plants - I know I live in a city so I have lots more access to this, but guess what, people began sharing more plants with me! nodding

I just repotted my S. 'Silver Stone' crested form from a nursery pot I kept it in, to a ceramic container. I found it out in my big patch of Silver Stone last fall when I was cleaning out a bed.

may sound like stupid question but from looking at the plant, does the S. stand for Sedum or Sempervivum?
Looks like an oddity, at any rate... Blinking

And she also has a thread to teach you how to buy containers, like being able to tell if they have been high fired. That would make them much stronger and less apt to break during winter freezing. Thumbs up

I just noticed a couple of my 4inch pots that I thought were S. 'Angelina' are actually S. 'Sea Gold' Has anyone heard of this cultivar?
Here are the photos side by side, they look very similar but Sea gold has more red (which is why in comments on posts about Angelina I've said how red
it looks!) Guess it helps to read the label, not just grab 8 4 inch pots that look alike! Rolling on the floor laughing
I actually think I like Sea gold better because of all the red! I tip my hat to you.
