I have not read all of the 12 pages but have anyone saw the new released Sedum of 2012 Cherry Tart from Millcreek.

I picked it up yesterday. I am doing a sedum bed around my front lawn lamp post, I want it to be colorful and easy low water planting. It is blazing sun there and it needs to be hardy because it i also where snow and salt is thrown.

Look how it picks up the blue sedum leaf on the right. I will start a post and update as we go to see how this bed develops with colorful sedum Lamp Post planting.

Cinta, like somebody always suggests, save a piece of the sedum for somewhere else to plant in case lamp post base doesn't work out. I'm thinking that the salt thing might not be good for it? What do you all think?

Cinta, I just love Cherry Frost, and it does go very well with the blue leafed sedum. It will make such a beautiful display around the lamp post.

I agree with Bev, it might be a good idea to save some in another area just in case it doesn't survive the winter salt. Meanwhile if it does survive winter salt, please add that attribute to the database for that sedum. Hurray!
It would be great information for others. Thumbs up

I hear you Bev but I have used sedum and semps in the mail box designs and at the edge of the driveway beds for years.

It could be because I have always used the old Sedum that have been in the trade for years is the reason I have never had a problem. Some of the old ones if you put gasoline on them and set them on fire you could not kill them.

The new and brighter different colors may not be as tough to handle the salt and snow like the old varieties. I will take cuttings. I do have 2 other succulent cactus beds that will not be in the way of salt.

We were posting at the same time. Valley do you mean Cherry Tart you said Cherry Frost?

Yes, the winter salt attribute would be helpful in database, but the survival thru 'gasoline and fire" sounds like an exciting attribute to cite in database too... Whistling

Okay, Okay....I thought of that fire thing because I had a grill fire about 10 years ago. I had a grill house it was a semi covered structure and I put sedum around it and some bushes to make it look pretty.

The fire went up and my friend grabbed a rake and pushed the grill into my sedum bed. I was screaming get them off my plants, he was yelling what plants what about the roof. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing He was concerned about the roof on fire. I was worried about the sedum on fire.

Those sedum did not blink.
