This is one of my favorites, it bloomed 4 times last season. It is radiant in the garden. But I have no idea of its name. Thanks for the help.

It doesn't look quite like any hybrid with which I am familiar. Maybe its an older cultivar that's hasn't been sold for a while.

I bought it at a local farmers' market. It looked quite pale blooming in the pot, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how beautiful it is in the garden. I crossed it with Crinum "Ellen Bosanquet", and have about 100 bulbs in the ground. I can't wait to see them bloom.

Yes, it does look like it may share genes with Exotica, Peach Bloosom, too. But it's not a miniature...... Steph

It looks like an old cultivar "Mr Hughes".That one was a hybrid someone named for the one they got it from.I grew it for a few years but lost it somewhere along the way.
What we really need is a way to name,and register,our good crosses.There is almost no chance of doing that through the current system.BGI has a good system for Brugmansia.We need something like that.

There is a society in Europe but I am told that it is expensive and almost impossible for the small grower to get one registered with them.Registration is not a big deal if there is an organization to do the registering.In the case of BGI,they collect the names, and data,throughout the year and send the collected info to the ISHS(the international society for plants).In addition the pictures and info are printed in a hard copy catalog and mailed to several botanical libraries worldwide.The bottom line is that all a registration does is protect the name.There are two registries for Brugmansia,BGI and IBADS.Both register the same way.

Yup, it does look like Hippeastrum 'Mr. Hughes'. Like JT said, it's origins were from a hybridizer who passed away. As it was originally relayed to me, the original plant was found afterwards while cataloging his collection and then named after him. It's a pretty uncommon cultivar - I'm not sure how widespread it is.

Mine should be blooming pretty soon, I just noticed yesterday that it has a bloom stalk emerging.

Hi Carter.It's good to see you posting.You gave me the "Mr.Hughes" that I grew for a few years.Mine finally got a virus and I sent it to the landfill.A lot of mine end up that way since I grow them outside during the warm months
and every bug in the universe lives here and likes to munch on my hippis.That worried me a lot at first but now I don't give it a second thought.
