There is a society in Europe but I am told that it is expensive and almost impossible for the small grower to get one registered with them.Registration is not a big deal if there is an organization to do the registering. In the case of BGI,they collect the names, and data, throughout the year and send the collected info to the ISHS(the international society for plants). In addition the pictures and info are printed in a hard copy catalog and mailed to several botanical libraries worldwide. The bottom line is that all a registration does is protect the name. There are two registries for Brugmansia,BGI and IBADS.Both register the same way.
