Just thought you'd like to see what I've got in my greenhouse. Now, I just got it a few months ago. Just in time because I start a ton of seeds under lights then I have to move them somewhere! We do market gardening and I sell cut flowers so there's a bit of both. Right now, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage and tons of new flowers.

It's quite messy since we've been scrambling just to get them all potted up, and we just finished the last plug tray today!

We pot up seedlings into paper pots mostly (I hate washing pots). Some will be sold as plants. We had some really COLD weather last night, 24 degrees! Row cover on the shelves, 3 mini greenhouses and a quartz heater and everything made it.

Next week all the lettuce, broccoli, caulif. and cabbage will be planted out so I'll have some more room. There is a spot to plant in the ground at the far corner on the right, under all the lettuce! LOL!

Two metro shelving units with five shelves each with lights in the house with peppers, eggplant, tomatoes and tender annuals. So we'll fill it up again soon.

Yay, another paper-potter-upper. I use a lot of paper pots, too!

Yes, but I have boxes and boxes of it right now, should keep me going for a couple years. Then I'll have to resort to plastic! Or plant later and put directly in the ground.

I have mixed feelings about that! LOL! I have a second, smaller green house at my son's, FULL of geraniums and grasses and stuff overwintering. AND I have a small, CHEAP greenhouse here I got before I got a REAL one. they're never big enough, are they? How about a high tunnel? Whoa!

I would love to see some updated pic's of your plants. With your more southern temps have you moved them outside?
We grow a few things from seed but quite a bit of ours comes as seedling plugs that we transplant into small flats till we can get them outside.
I like that angled shelf in the back corner.

I'll try and take some pictures today. We did move the tomatoes and cold hardy flowers out to make room for the peppers and zinnia seed starting. I also planted cukes and beans in paper pots as an experiment. I usually direct sow.

But a lot of the stuff has already been planted in the garden, stock, gaillardia, helenium, salvia, calendula, rudbeckia, etc.

I've actually run out of pots until I plant the tomatoes and peppers. There is a lot of stuff in paper pots stunted for lack of more space. We've had some really hot days already so a lot of stuff is really taking off. ( that isn't in paper pots!)

Just diluted Neptune's Harvest. and only a couple of times. I keep forgetting! I'm gonna put that on my list to do this next week!

I have never gotten plugs, I guess I'm a bit scared of the price. I am just a hobby seller at a FM. But I know there are some things that are just a pain to start from seed (lisianthus for one) and some things that are available as plugs and not seeds. I met another vendor at market that suggested maybe we could split some plugs so I may try that next year.

You look like your greenhouse is HUGE!!! Your seedlings look great too. The paper pots I use look a bit raggedy after awhile but I like using them when I have so many seedlings to pot up. Usually I then pot them up again into a 4" pot to sell. And I'm not very professional, I use a lot of recycled containers and pots so I have run out of 4" pots until I can get some stuff planted in the garden (peppers and some tomatoes)

This all started as a way to help pay for my addiction! So when I want to buy a plant or place a huge order for seeds I don't feel so guilty!

Oh, the slanted shelf, from Lowe's, throwaway. I was working for Plant Partners and just kept an eye open for stuff they threw away. I even got some metal shelves that way. But the Lowe's where I moved to isn't as friendly or don't seem to be so open to giving away the stuff they're going to throw away. Guess I need to shop there a bit more so they remember my face. But I think it would be simple enough to make. When the GH is empty I'll take a picture of it so you can see. We added netting to the shelves and used it to dry garlic on too.

No only a 10X12 with some nice height to it. We have it packed. I overwintered quite a few tropicals out there this winter and did some cuttings from a few annuals we brought inside. They have all been pushed together on the other side of the GH and some have been moved to the garage for another month when it will be safe for them to go outside. We belong to a Hobby Green House Assoc. and each year the whole group does a big plug order.

So do you heat your GH? I used to live in Carlisle, Pa. Are you near that? Some of my husband's family is in Lancaster and I used to be on the Eastern Shore of MD.

I just got my GH in February and I already had my seeds started inside under lights and it took us awhile to get it put together so I haven't tried overwintering things in it yet. I'm anxious to try. I also want to experiment with actually starting some seeds out there. Right now I have zinnias and celosia starting, but I mean early. Save me some space in the dining room. Or am I just going to find MORE things to start?

I like to take a lot of cuttings too, love those FREE plants!

What a great way to order plugs. Do you ever get anything from Walters in Michigan? That's another thing, I really don't know WHERE to order plugs!!

I'm going to try the seaweed...without the fish. We have enough rabble-rousing wildlife damaging plants as it is.

I use the seaweed also. In fact, I may have just used the seaweed on the seedlings, but I use Neptunes in the garden. It is a problem if you have critters. I believe I drenched when I transplanted and then sprayed one time after that.

This was the first year that we heated the GH, we have had it two years now. Last year we only heated it for a month or so with a couple of heater fans when the plugs came in. Last fall we purchased a gas heater and it sure was nice not having to drag all of the tropicals all into the house although I still have a ton of them inside as well.

I know what you mean, in the winter my small house is filled with plants! and not just here and there. It's like a jungle. So I hope I can put a lot out in the GH. But what kind of gas heater? We used one of those quartz heaters...and just when it was supposed to go down below 40 at night.

We have a passive solar home with 18ft of floor to ceiling glass so I have a great spot for over wintering plants inside. In the past come Christmas time everything that can be carried upstairs goes into a second floor room where it is very crowded. This year I didn't have to do that it was so very nice. Things in the living room are very crowded right now as I have been picking up extra plants since Feb. The Flower Shows we have been attending have such temping plants for sale. Plus bringing up Orchids from the GH that are in bloom and a very large Brugmansia that was given to me. It was dormant when I got it in Feb but just a little sip of water and sitting it in my windows and now I have a 4-5ft monster. It has leafed out quite a lot since this picture was taken. There are about 45 plants in this space.
