Hello, I have a few different vines and have been watching for small plants at the base. I did give one away but my mom and sister always admire them when they are blooming. I would love to be able to share some with them. Have you had success with cuttings dipped in rooting compound?

Thanks
T

I'll be waiting to see an answer on this one - I always wondered, and never had any success.

It seems like it isn't done to often. I am ordering the Florida Sieboldi one and excited to see how it does.
I love the pictures of it.

Teresa, I haven't done it myself but I remember in a book I was reading that they are supposed to be easy.

I wonder if it would work with air layering? Perhaps all of those nurseries are just dividing roots?

Garden Web forum says root in water or use rooting hormone, but that it takes a few months.

I cut a new end piece like right now while it is growing and blooming, dip in rootone and put in a clear glass vase. Let it get quite a few roots or it will die. Have fun!

Look up serpentine layering. That is the best way to propagate these. Here is an article about it. This way you can make many cuttings from one "vine."

Clint is right. Layering a pliable stem is very easy and so satisfying.
