Greetings,
Woohoo it's Spring. My problem is that the koi we culled from the pond last spring are still in the holding tanks & need a home. If anyone wants koi they can have them for pick up only. All of these were born in my pond and we have not introduced new koi for 4 years.

Most of them are Butterfly koi & range from 8" to 18". The location is 40 miles east of Memphis Tn about 8 miles north of the Tennessee / Mississippi line. Please contact me for additional information.

The picture is of the pond the koi were born in & some of the parents.

Very nice. If you dont' find homes, you may do well listing them on Craig's list.

Question for you - what are you going to do this year when they spawn? I ask because it did become a problem for DH and I. I'm all ears!

We have the same issue...very sexy koi & lots of babies. Any new ones will have to be pretty special to to be keepers. Sad . My plan is to do a mailing with some info to landscapers & pond builders so I am glad to hear that might be a solution. Hopefully I can sell some of my lotus & tropical waterlilies to help fund a renovation of the pond.

Shannon, the collies are beautiful!

are you doing the renovation yourselves or are you hiring it done? Pls share pictures when the renovations are done.

Great idea on raising the funding that way.

Hopefully we will have a crew to do the heavy stuff. I want to change the waterfall, put in a bottom drain, and add more pocks in the sand. This picture is the pond maybe 5 years ago.

Beautiful.... From the Pond people that I delt with, YES, they would be interested in plants also. Check with a local pet shop
for prices Smiling It will help you figure out What you should charge.. EX we sold Hardy lilies for 25.00 and up so Wholesale was
about 10.00 ..

I sold tropical fish when I was breeding them to help Keep everyone else going. Once you get a couple of Pond people interested
you should have them for years Thumbs up I Still have people calling about my angel fish & my Canaries and Ive been out for
8 yrs Whistling

About 10,000 in these pictures but 2 years ago we filled in the bog area because of a leak we could not fix. It was designed as a biological filter and that is one of the things I want have again. There is a website that says they buy large koi so I e-mailed them and they replied asking for pictures.

One more picture of the pond at night, which is one of my favorite times in the garden.

Thanks Paul, I like your greenhouse, especially the fan. Gives it that homelike feel like you could sit in there in the winter with a cup of coffee. I have a homemade greenhouse, too.

I have as much water in the greenhouse as outside, I think. I've moved most of my commercial production out of my dome, though, so I'm hoping to make it a more enjoyable place to hang out rather than an overloaded working space. Smiling

I discovered after my koi produced thousands of fry, that if I stopped feeding them, they stopped breeding. OR, the fry all died, (eaten?) which is OK too. I think I have the original parents and two yearlings left, which apparently is what my 30' pond can support.

I think if you don't feed the koi, they will eat the fry. I have heard that to be true with goldfish as well.

Is your pond 30 gallons or 30 ft? How big are the 2 parent fish?

My pond is 30' round pond. I have 2 koi about 18" each. They stopped growing. The 2 youngsters were 9" last summer. It is my minnow breeding pond for feeding my bass pond. I had koi in there for five years before they spawned. I took all the koi i caught in a minnow trap to the local feed store to be sold. And now feed the minnows in the trap. Koi haven't spawned since. I have never seen them eat a minnow. They eat something at the edge of the pond, but I can't see what it is. Seems to be enough, and if not, let them eat minnows!

Hilarious!

How long have they been 18"? I know after the first couple of years, they don't grow as quickly - however, they will get quite a bit larger than 18".
