I have been growing this beauty since 2011. I have overwintered the plant indoors but last year I installed one in the front garden to see if it would survive our winter. It was such a mild winter, I'm hoping it will be huge size this summer.

This salvia is definitely one for fuzzy flower lovers!

I would love to hear how much sun folks grow this in. We generally give it 50%+ shade.

I grow my plants in the bald open sun. In the front garden the plant receives morning sun and some sun in afternoon. The plants on the deck receive afternoon sun. They don't seem to be harmed by the exposure.

Gerris,

Great pics! Please add them to the Salvia database, if you haven't already! Thumbs up

I'm getting one plant of this one this year and am growing it for the first time. I can't wait! Gorgeous flowers! Hurray! Lovey dubby

Bolivian Hummingbird Sage (Salvia oxyphora)

How much sun do you give yours, Gerris? Full sun to partial sun?

I am excited to report that my Salvia oxyphora survived the winter in the ground! It is making many small green shoots from its crown. I am so happy, happy happy!! Admittedly it was a very mild winter. We never got one snowfall that stayed on the ground. I also covered the plant with a big pile of leaves so it had quite a bit of protection. I can't wait to see it take off and make a bazillion flowers! :-D

Growing this gorgeous Salvia for the first time and I love it! Drooling Lovey dubby Have to grow it each year! I'm thinking about planting it by it's self next year. Thumbs up It's in the container with 3 other Salvias.

I've only have a few pics, so far with the heat and humidity we've had, but hope to get more pics when the cooler temps in the Fall arrive.

I've it in a mixed container (20 inch plastic) on our patio that is mostly sunny.

Click onto each pic to see it larger...

I am completely in love with this salvia. I spent my evening at the fbts.com site and I am in big trouble. I absolutely must start growing some of these this year. I will have to fit an order in my budget within the next couple weeks. I have a great spot for some of the drought tolerant ones that I want to have as a memorial garden for my little girl. But I will also have to have some as container plants. I just can't make up my mind which ones to choose. My little girl's birthday would have been in July and I know that salvias can grow quickly, so I can enjoy some of the flowers for her birthday, which is the same day as mine.

I grew this beautiful Salvia in a container with several other Salvias last year for the first time and loved it! Lovey dubby

This year I got a pot from FBTS, but it died sometime after I planted it into a container by itself. Crying Sad
