Update on 'Ghosty' I said on another thread i hadn't lost any plants so far because of the ungodly amount of rain we have had.I forgot about this plant,i haven't completely lost it yet??
We have had so much rain that nothing has had time between showers, thunderstorms & down pours to even begin to dry out.We have had maybe 2 weeks without rain.My 'Ghosty' started rotting from soil up while still putting out higher up the stems.I cut the higher parts of the stems that weren't rotting & had the little tiny new growth on them & put them in dry soil. They began to root & when the soil got wet i put them on back porch, trying to keep them out in the heat & able to get sun when it came out.The temp hasn't went over the mid 80's but with the humidity so high the heat index has been staying around 115*F.So i have been fighting a battle.
My C. 'campfire' is under the porch & i'm constantly pinching off stems before they get mushy & it spreads to far.
If anyone wants some cuttings from a Capitella 'campfire' i have enough pieces to make a small plant,i pinch them off,let them dry & replant them or stick them in some vermiculite.
This picture was taken before the constant rain started. It now isn't so full because i have had to keep trimming it to prevent the smaller stems from rotting. Will gladly share,i really don't want another one,it's the last plant to come in & the first to go out.It gets red & is so pretty when it's exposed to cold weather.
