There's several Physalis in Florida, P. angulata leaves are not like yours.

Physalis arenicola is the closest I have found, if the photos are correct ...

This specimen on Tropicos, Physalis arenicola var. ciliosa shows leaves which look a good match .. not for certain though.

Name unresolved on The Plant List ..

Accepted name on ITIS is Physalis arenicola ..

If it was growing here in Nebraska, I'd call it Physalis heterophylla:

In Florida? Shrug!

Physalis can be a difficult.genus, I've watched botanists debate the proper ID of a Physalis specimen more times than I care to remember. There is quite a bit of ongoing debate over which species are even legitimate, which is probably why the Plant List describes P. arenicola as unresolved.

Okay. I looked at all of these plus many more & yes, it's a really tough call. Too close for me to say for sure & who knows; I may have more than one variety growing here. I found ones verified & collected in this county but there were more than one variety. So, since I can't say for sure then I'm putting it in the general Physalis entry.

Thanks to both of you! My appreciation. I tip my hat to you.

I'm thinking that I may have sandhill ground cherry as well, but... try to find a good picture anywhere!
Have a look at these pics.

* the leaves look different from the ones recorded at encyclopedia of life:

Mine actually looks closer to Physalis virginiana var. virginiana as per http://www.namethatplant.net/p...

Well, stone..... Yep, it's a hard call. To be safe I put mine in the general entry as I can't be positive on mine.
