Still waiting for blooms ...getting antsy...



The plant is big and looks healthy to me, but no blooms yet. Of course, I only have one salvia that is blooming so far, so I guess they just need a little more time.

I have mine in a mixed container, so it is not as big (no blooms).

Mine, too. It's in a huge pot with oregano and verbena. There used to be a pansy in there too, but it fizzled away...

Limelight blooms late Summer through Fall.....I don't get cold weather here, but I'm wondering if it's blooming is cut short in Fall by the onset of cold weather in colder regions....

Our limelight is just starting to bloom, probably a month earlier than :normal". I really don't know what normal weather is anymore!

Me, either. We're having record lows right now. Last year was the exact opposite.

We just a record low this morning of 54. The old record for today was 55.

I love this cooler weather! Wish we had it all Summer!

I have to agree, Marilyn. Makes it possible to get some of the heavy gardening chores done now, without rain gear, rather than trying to cram it all in during the few weeks of our cool and wet autumn season.

It should make knockout flowers. Our hummingbirds unfortunately migrate before it makes flowers here in Delaware.

Finally...I see buds forming!

We're supposed to drop from mid-nineties (day)/mid-seventies (night) to mid-sixties/forty in two days time, however; I wonder if that will greatly affect the buds opening?

I'd just about made up my mind to chop it down yesterday. It's a very good thing that it was too hot to stand in the sun for long, or it would have been gone!

One month later...

Finally...blooms!! Sure, it's only a few...but I'm pretty darn happy. I thought it wasn't going to make any at all before first frost.




I did give it a dose of bloom booster yesterday morning. I don't know if that made a difference or not, but it opened its first blooms the very next day.

Oh, wow! That color is outstanding!

I'd definitely use plenty of these if I gardened in a southern region.
