I had to put chicken wire around it because the rabbits were mowing it down. I finally got some plantskyd but my husband doesn't want me to use it because he is afraid it will attract flies.

Jen, seriously, when I am finished market gardening I need you to come help me plant my beds. I'll even pay your gas or flight and have everything ready so all you have to do is help me plant!

I love that flowerbed, from the pic in the middle what are the orange flowers on the right side. I can barely see the chicken wire which is good that you choose something that would not obstruct the view. I like to use the Milorganite to keep the critters out of the bed, squirrels, rabbits and cats will not dig there or munch because they hate the smell also the animals that are territorial will stay away because it has a human scent. The plants love it.

Susan, those are Calendula but I can't remember the variety.@jvdubb can tell you though. I THINK IT IS princess orange, just not sure.

This bed exceded all my expectations. I crammed so much stuff in there. The only thought I gave it was the heights of the plants. That worked well. But what surprised me was how I got so lucky and lots of things were blooming all season long, once one thing pooped out its neighbor started. Some stuff went all season long. I couldn't do that again if I tried!

Also, there are two shrubs in there! In years to come I will have to remove stuff as they get bigger

Thanks! They seemed taller than the calendula I am use to seeing. I have some seeds in my crock pot so maybe I can grow something next year. I got the ones that look like a mini cactus dahlia. Maybe I will luck out and have a winter this year so I can winter-sow some things. Sigh.
