Lovely, Carol the color on the Masd. is fabulous and they have such cool shaped flowers. What's the one mounted on the oak branch?

Ursula, I think I'll give it a try on the cork, and just be generous with water, as the rest of my mounted orchids have done SO well this summer with all the rain.

Thanks.
Elaine

My guess is Epi. parkinsonianum.

Agreed!
Good looking plants, Carol! Thumbs up

Sounds like a plan, Elaine. I have one which fell off the mount some years ago, I stuck it into a pot - bare root. Now if the silly plant would just quit being a Mealie magnet, it might even bloom again one of these days. It is clean now and has lots of new small leaves, I think I should just throw it every couple of months into an Imidacloprid solution..... Rolling my eyes.

Kathy and Ursula are correct! That is the Epi.parkinsonianum. Supposed to smell great, and be temp. tolerant...bless Katrine! Andy had enough help there today that she and I had a chance to look and talk a bit, and her home is in about the same environment as mine...and she is honest!
As to the Sedirea japonica, I bought one from Andy's in 2009, mounted. I'm still waiting to see a bloom on it.
As a PS to my last post, Ecuagenera was there today, which is a rare occurance. There were several of our regular vendors selling bare root plants as well.

Hmm, well I've got the Sedirea mounted and it looks sweet. Now if I can just water the livin bleeps out of all these mounted 'chids through our dry season . . . I'll really feel like a grand master orchid grower if I can get it to bloom before you do, Carol.

We have the Tropiflora Fall Festival next weekend, and several orchid vendors usually show up. Plus Plantio la Orquidea has their greenhouse right next door so they always have wonderful plants and bargains. Friday . .. my next orchid splurge. Good thing DH is out of town!

If DH comments then on your new babies, tell him they live here.... Smiling Smiling Have fun!

Regarding the mounted Sedirea - yes, doesn't it always come down to your cultural conditions, right? I would just rot out a lot of my orchids if I had them in bark/pots, since my watering practices are mainly geared to Vandas and a bunch of other bare root/mounted stuff.

Actually - I had bought a small plant of Oerstedella schweinfurthiana in February 2012. This Summer it really put on some nice growth and gets to be a pretty tall plant. Now if it were to bloom this Fall or Winter I would flip!
But, just reading this - plants will stay under 4 feet, if kept in full sun! Whew, I am glad I did that, the plant can grow to 14!!! feet!

The tallest cane on mine is almost 4 feet now.... but footprint-wise it doesn't take up much room at all.

I spent most of yesterday at the Tampa Orchid Club Show and Sale over at the USF Botanical Garden. I clerked for the judges in the morning and gave my orchid presentation at 1:00 PM for about 12 very interested folks. I did have a little time for shopping and came home with three new babies.

The orange color of this Brada Orange Delight 'Starbeck' grabbed my attention right away.

Next I found a large Catt with several huge buds. Then I saw it was a Chia Lin cross and had to have it. The buds started to open last night. I'll post new pics when the flowers are fully open. You sure can see the Chia Lin in her. Here is Pot. (Miya'sPassion X Carolina's Splender) X Blc. Chia Lin 'New City'.

Finally, I picked up Rossioglosum Rawdon Jester 'Great Bee'. Mine is not in bloom or spike but they had a sample plant there and the flower looked like a huge Psychopsis. See this Utube:

Beauties all, Jim. I was sorry to miss your talk yesterday, have had family in town . . Rolling my eyes.

Especially love the soft colors on your Chia Lin cross there. Look forward to updates as the flowers open all the way.

Selby was giving away plants again today, for 'member appreciation' day. I got a couple of nice little orchids that should reward me with blooms some time before I die.
Doritis pulcherimma and Sarcoglottis sceptroides - I had no idea that the pretty striped leaves on the Sarcoglottis are sparkly in the sun like the jewel orchids.
