Thumbs up

I need to start saving some of mine now. Whistling I always think I'll get to it later, after the initial rush and excitement of having homegrown heirlooms to eat has passed, but I usually botch it somehow and end up ordering more for next year. *Blush* I start fermenting plenty of them, then forget to finish the job. Rolling my eyes.

I only grew a few this year, so I really don't have a good excuse to not get it done. Hilarious!

I have never fermented my seeds, and had success in germination.

@chelle I forgot to save seeds for this one. I am trying other new varieties this year, and sticking to some other old favorites. I have to limit my tomatoes to pots this year, as I have done tomatoes for the past five years and have no more new spaces to rotate them to, except a new hugel bed where I will be growing Kellog's Breakfast I got from the Whitinger seed company. My onions, squash, lettuce, and malabar spinach will go here as well.

I may also empty half of my compost, and mix in some top soil and plant some tomatoes and squash in those as well.

I actually did get all of mine done, dried and put away...for once.

I don't rotate mine more than 15 feet or so; my veggie patch is just 30x30. I won't put plants with toxic leaves in the overflow patch, which is larger, because the horse is but a few strands of thin wire away...

I think the compost pile will grow your extras just fine. Smiling
